Went out and tried the parachute flares….and for $4 you get a hellacious bang, some serious altitude and a nice cheery red glow covering the immediate area. A fun purchase.

Well, I paid a bit more than $30..a Scherer-branf mag. I could have waited a bit but i wanted it *now*. however, I tried it today and it worked quite well and I am pleased with it. If I ever get around to buying a KelTec 9mm carbine it’ll be perfect.
Sweet deal on the pyrotechnics. A friend of mine got me a combo-can (still sealed) of NATO launch flares. 1-, 2-, and 3-ball star clusters in red and green and 3 smoke-trail. Supposedly guaranteed to burn out before hitting the tree line again. Not sure where he got them, but I’ve been looking for an online source to order more. Any ideas?
