  1. The news reports have been pretty vague with the exception of some increased requirements for background checks. I expect the election to create more market demand than Obama’s speech, but I feel well stocked on what I want to have, and live in a red state. So I see executive orders as mostly short-term inconveniences.

    • More funding for background checks, which if anything, makes it easier for people who are legal to have guns to get their guns in a timely manner. Better reporting of guns that are lost or stolen between leaving the distributers and arriving at the retailer. Again, something that makes sense to me. Some people are balking at the idea of people who sell and trade guns frequently having to get FFLS, but it sounds like we’re going back to the pre-Clinton era where lots of folks could be FFLS. Which sounds OK with me as long as the people who now need the FFLS can actually get them. And there’s going to be more money for dealing with mental health issues, to which I answer a hearty: hell yes.

No gun banning in this one. I’m pretty sure every politically and econmically powerful person in America would like to see at least some restriction on firearms that us “little people” can own. They’d probably also like to restrict what we can research and have their security people follow us around on the internet. But, this round of EO’s looks to contain none of that and just updates that actually make sense.

      • You missed one that should send a chill up your spine.

Remove barriers between agencies sharing mental health information.

That info was silo’d for a reason.

Every oppressive regime has used ‘mental illness’ as an excuse to murder, incarcerate, and deny rights to their citizens.

There is no openness and no recourse when you’ve been deemed ‘mentally ill’ and then your Constitutionally guaranteed rights are removed.

They are already using mental health excuses to deny veterans their rights and it will only get worse and more widespread.

Are you an AGW denier? A gun lover? Believer in ‘liberty’? Think some combination of hidden powers really rules the world? — mental illness. Lose your guns.

The basic question is- Does the Constitution mean anything? If it does, then every one of these laws/regulations/ restrictions is wrong. If it does not, then WHY not? The plain language of the Constitution and the Second Amendment is very clear, and it doesn’t say “unless someone thinks you are crazy” or “unless a judge says NO” or even “unless you are a convict.” It says “shall not be infringed.” Other amendments mention laws, and other ways that the right might be modified or restricted. NOT this one. And it’s the only one that specifically says “Shall not be infringed.”

Every one of these restrictions is an infringement. When you can buy, where you can buy, from whom you can buy, what you can buy, who can buy, where you take it– all unconstitutional infringements. They have accumulated over time, have a long history, and may even be desirable to many people, but it doesn’t change the fact that they contradict the very foundation for all our laws, the very definition of how our nation is to be constituted.

This latest round of proposed infringements sounds like weak tea compared to our fears, but hiding there in plain sight, lies another of the pillars of tyranny.

        • This is something I have always complained about, nothing that will affect me, “Shall Not Be Infringed” gives gun rights to convicts, physicals, and anyone else not leagal at this time.

      • There’s zero chance that it will become easier to obtain a Type 1 FFL. Obama’s intent is to scare the folks selling 2 or 3 guns a year into no longer selling to non-FFLs. Absolutely meaningless, but there’ll be a couple of well-publicized “Illegal Gun Trafficker Charged!” news stories to frighten the folks who would have sold an unwanted shotgun at a gun show into selling it to an FFL.

End result will be a few honest folks’ lives ruined, and higher prices for used guns. Impact on crime? None, of course.

  2. As of right now they are sold out and impossible to order, but you can be notified if any comes in stock.

  3. Even though no magazine anything was mentioned – looks prices are up at some places – at least in the places I’ve looked.

This place is only a dollar over average, but this is for G2s… I was buying G3s at $10 6 months ago.

Most places are up at least a buck. Disappointing, but I guess with over 13m background checks and assumed firearms purchases, people need to feed those ARs with something, huh?

Glad I stocked up after sandy hook. I’m sitting on something like 50 with a mix of G2s and G3s.

  4. been watching for two weeks. prices in some places remain unchanged, others are already gouging for the same mags. palmetto shot up for one day, then came back down over several days.. cdnn had 10.25 c-products metal in stock. i loaded up two weeks ago, added a case of .308 too. gonna be “interesting” year.

  5. Now that I look back at it, seems fitting that I was putting some final touches of customization on an AR while listening to him whine and spew his plan. Also sounded to me JUST LIKE the laws already on the books, only thing different I could here was maybe re-defining what “in the business” means. More Fed jobs, cash for MH issues… ok but (as with Obamacare) where ya gonna get the cash?

No the real reason I’m steamed up is the latest slap to this Nation as he sidesteps the legal process to do what he wants. “I’ve got a phone and a pen…”
I’m waiting for the lawsuits to start.
