arfcom survival forum

Yup, got a bit weary of the fundamental and the judgemental over at the Cheap Rodent forum so I signed up at arfcom’s forum. Still read over at the other place, but after reading pretty much every post at arfcom I think I like them a bit better. Need to just lurk for a bit to see what sense of community they have though.

  1. My only problem with arfcom is that since the rebuild a few years ago it’s turned into (IMHO) a playpen for junveniles. The fact that I don’t like their new design doesn’t help much either, but the crowd pretty much keeps me from calling it Home again.

  2. I’m getting pretty burned out on the gun forums in general. The level of discourse has dropped to a new low in many places. I’m about ready to bag The High Road, which has been pretty much my only regular read for awhile. I may go back to the Fal Files again. I was driven out during the last great flame war, but there are some good guys there. I never was a fan of ARFCOM, but their surivival forum was pretty good when I was there recently.

How’s the Lightfighter forums? I think I actually have an account there, but I haven’t spent any time there other than that first visit. I see you mention it a bit.

  3. The playpen is mostly confined to the General discussion boards there, but every once in a while, someone gets loose into the other boards. The moderator(s) at Arfcom’s survival boards do a pretty good job of keeping the riff-raff out of that section.

    I go by Bulldawg there.

  4. Survivalist Forums…

…start to get repetitive after a while, and most of the members fantasize too much about being on a SWAT team with all the damn M4 clones they keep showing pictures of.
