MOA @ 200 yds., working for a living, drop, LJ recommendation

My buddy points out to me that 13/16″ at 200 yards is .38794016311611415297579278210326 MOA. Why, yes, he is an engineer..why do you ask?

I’ve decided, for several reasons, to get a second job. My primary reason is to sock away money so that the girlfriend can quit her job to go to school. However, a small portion of this anticipated increase in income is marked for more goodies. Specifically, magazines and AR receivers. Im having a crisis of faith in regards to the 2008 elections. If the Democrats wind up winning I can totally forsee the return of the AW ban…and even if nothing changes I think we all agree extra guns and magazines is never a bad idea or investment. There are, of course, other things I want to get but the guns and mags are the noly things I want that are likely to be legislated out of my reach. Not alot of legistalionfloating around on MFCs, MREs, FDFs, and the like.

My math says that a .30 168 MK at 2800 fps that is +2″ at 100 will be -.3″ at 200 and around -6″ at 300….

  1. So putting 1090 grains of depleted uranium on a turnbuckle moving at 350mph at 1500yds would be pretty good?

This is easier with a computer and a radar for continuous aim correction.

  2. I’m going to buy a pile of lowers as well. Just makes good sense, and even if a new AWB doesn’t get enacted, you won’t lose money on them.

  3. give them time

to ban everything “to protect the public”. hope you invested in a workmans backbrace to protect your spine. Wildflower 06

  4. OT Food Prep Question

Where can I find food-quality rodent proof screw-top 5 gallon bins for long term rice and bean storage in a very humid environment? I have Googled with no positive results. I have seen the 5 gal. buckets at Home Depot, but don’t know if they are food safe and they have pry lids. Links would be cool.

    Thanks,
    Crom

could try your local paint supplier, have purchased one gallon clean metal cans with lids. or try envisioning lining such plastic pails with food grade plastic bags, seal with lids, and store away in an old metal freezer with hasp and padlock installed. damn hard to find the old five gallon metal pails with any lids these days. as for plastic, am reusing washed kitty litter pails and jugs for storing rice, beans, and macoroni. you could try your local surplus military store for metal shipping drums, or large ammo boxes. are you a connan fan?

Thanks! I went to Home Depot and looked at those large plastic 5 gal. orange buckets, but I don’t know if they are food safe. What do you use to wick moisture/oxygen out of the containers with bags? Is there an inexpensive way to do this – outside of buying silica gel? I already keep the gelpacks from aspirin bottles etc.

As to the Conan thing, it’s a nickname from a long-ago girlfriend. There were about ten of us watching “Conan the Barbarian” when Arnold, talking about Crom said “He doesn’t listen,” and she poked me in the shoulder and said “Hey, that’s just like you.”

There are far worse nicknames, I decided to keep this one.

tank of CO2, regulator and hose. plastic bag into bucket, fill with dry foodstuff, put hose into bag of stuff and fill with CO2. light a match, put into the bag to check CO2 levels, if snuffed, then twist seal bag closed, allowing excess gas to escape while doing so. then place/close bucket with lid. adding a bag of dessicant to dry foodstuff is not a bad idea.

welders supply can sell you gas tank, regulator and hose. or use dry ice. Wildflower 06
