MRE’s, Gas prices, trailer link

Well, either Im going ot have to
a) get a larger bunker
b) stop acquiring MRE’s
or
c) improve my box-stacking and arranging skills.

Picked up another 15 cases of MRE’s today. That pretty much puts me at the point that on 2 MRE’s a day I could keep me and the girlfriend going for..lets see….good grief, six months. Thats alot of tiny bottles of Tobasco sauce. I’d hate to think of the geological curiousity that one’s colon would turn into if forced to subsist on MRE’s for 6 months. Still and all, beats the crap out of being hungry. Coupled with the FD and other stored food I think we’re looking at about a years worth o’ munchies. Sweet.

Speaking of..I called Mountain House yesterday and they tell me that their #10 cans are back in stock and ready for delivery. Apparently theyre all caught up over there.

Gas dropped fifteen cents in the last few days to $2.70/gallon here. Doesnt seem like that long ago it was a buck a gallon…..

I especially find the ‘teardrop’ trailers to be interesting. Minimalism at its most inventive.
Small trailers for bugout

Fall approaches…time to put the cold weather gear on standby, change out batteries, get hunting gear ready and dig out the Flectar…….

  1. I have a plan to convert one of my M514 trailers to a camping trailer. It’ll have space for camping tools, a tent, poles, a stove, propane, a small gen set and a water tank for potable water.

It’ll tow offroad behind my deuce or a converted short wheelbase deuce multifuel truck. Should be kind of handy. My thoughts for a tent are an M1945 Command Tent. That has a vestibule and comes in canvas or vinyl with roll up sides with mesh for ventilation. You can add a small metal stove too.

I think I have some pictures from my last colonoscopy that will give you a good idea. After the Military my body has never been the same.

Thanks for the links on teardrops, I misplaced mine somewhere.

  3. J and I are looking at a Springdale 179RD trailer. It’s the smallest they make. But then, we need to sleep 4, possibly 5 if we include my mom. otherwise a teardrop would be great! I do like the tent trailers, but I think I like the idea of a hardside trailer if we have to be in it for any length of time (possibly snowy winters).

  4. I’ve been considering building a teardrop. I’m on the fence about it. I’ve got a 7×12 postal container that is very light and has an aluminum frame that I also considered turning into a camping trailer, but I think that might be a little larger than I’d like. Really, I’m just trying to come to figure out something that has hard walls and a roof, can be environmentally controlled and has the most utility. A small setup for the bed of my pickup might be ideal and would permit me to still tow something, but that impacts the utility of my pickup. So, yeah, I can’t decide what to do.

  5. haha, fuel is 2.30 a gallon just up the road and i’ve seen it as low as 2.22/gal.

for some reason though while i do like the savings at the pump, the sudden drastic drop in price does concern me some. cant really put my finger on why.

  6. six months?

hope you have enough prune juice available at the end of six months of MRE’s. why would you subject yourself to six months of food torture? have fun, always! Wildflower 06
