Reposting “‘Trust me’ Is Not Enough”

So after the Trump election we all saw the gun/ammo markets come up with new equilibrium pricing on AR’s and the like. Why? Because people believed that they had dodged a gun-control bullet with Trump. And now? Well, past history has shown us that you take Trump seriously, not literally. (Whereas the Democrats took him literally, not seriously.)

I posted this about Trump’s unproven record on gun control and I believe that it is rather timely now. The fact remains, you don’t know that he won’t enact some sort of Feinstein-esque agenda. With Hillary it was a certainty, with Trump it’s an unknown. And that unknown is why you’re not out of the woods, gun control-wise, in regards to a Trump presidency.

  1. How would gun control affect you? I assume you have plenty of ammo and plenty of guns. What could they realistically put into law that would be bad for you? Not what you disagree with, I know you are pro gun. How would it affect others that read here? I think guns make the world a safer place, so there is that. But otherwise it would affect me much at all.

    • How wouldn’t it affect me? You haven’t defined what sort of gun control your talking about but because I currently have a few guns doesn’t mean I’m somehow impervious to the devious machinations of the idiots in Washington. What if my house gets burgled and I need to replace things? What if I want to buy additional ammo? Or more magazines?

      • If your house gets vurgled, i guess you eoukd go dig up a few you have buried.😀 i agree with you on guns especially on gun control. I just wondered what would change for people.

        • I just wondered what would change for people. How about GUNS BANNED that’s a change.

    • I believe that is a very short sighted statement. What about every future person’s Natural Right? “I have mine so to Hell with everyone else” is an attitude I can’t go along with. It might be the next generation that is fighting for my freedom or a young neighbor helping us with a mountain lion. I’m just miles outside of Zero’s liberal hell-hole of a town and can comfortably live out my life or I can be active and defend my beliefs.

  2. Spent seven years slinging guns and ammo in gun store in las vegas during ‘Bama years. I have seen it all. You are spot on about being dubious of political angles of the subject. ( student of topic for @ half century) it would be quite wise of folks to pay attention. Just as those shrill voices ( kids and women-jeez!) Can steer legislation, they can cause mob mentality. Be carefull. Ask Rhodesia and now South Africa how they can have land-property stripped. Your 2A rights and parchment rights are all subject to interperetation and stepped on by a kletterfelt boot sole at any time. “Whatever you pay today will be cheaper than tomorrow”. “A bird in the hand is better than a bird on a wire” “How much is the lives of you and yours worth, still want to negotiate?” Carry on, you have been warned.

  3. People get pretty touchy about guns. If the pro and anti crowds get ramp/amped up and legislation starts getting talked about, it’s probably a good time to stay away from your state capitol campus or anyone you might know that can get hot headed about things. The best place to be when a fight breaks out is somewhere else…

It seems to me that Trump says two things:
    1. Whatever the last person he talked to that sounded smart said.
    2. Whatever seems to be getting him the most applause at the time.

    • Or, perhaps, option #3: whatever might set his adversaries’ heads spinning. I would pray that such is in service to a higher, long term, goal, but am reluctant to wager that way.

  4. You can never have enough guns, ammo or magazines……I don’t care whom is in the Oval Office. A pile of crap smells the same, no matter who left it.

  5. When Trump says “Let’s do something stupid, ” usually that doesn’t mean he actually wants to do something stupid. Often he just wants our enemies to react to what he said. Trump has put gun control back on the table, with an offer the Dems can’t refuse, and equally can’t accept. Now the Dems will have to make gun control an issue in November. That’s going to hurt them. Unless you’re in a safe, far-left district, gun control is the last issue you want in play.

    • “Our” enemies? Somehow I doubt that Trump would use first person pronouns/possessive adjectives when referring to any group that includes you, me or most anyone else who reads this blog.

  6. DJT is a business man, not an idealougue. Everything is ‘on the table’ and everything is negotiable. At the end of the day, he wants a checkmark in the ‘win’ column. I know that’s scary to many folks, but he’s still infinitely preferable to Hillary. He’s also very adept at setting ‘traps’ for lefto-freaks. Their extreme contempt for him is why they take the bait, every time. My guess is, he’ll probably try to slow-roll the whole process & discussion until people get tired of hearing about it, and it just ‘goes away’.

I don’t know what’s going to happen, either, so I keep stacking. Personally, I’m not that worried about DJT. What comes *after* him will probably be pretty scary.

BTW, 10-packs of PMags are back in stock at gunmagwarehouse.

  7. The reason I was never worried about Hillary is that I could count on the Republicans in congress to stand up to her. My worry about Drafty McBonespur is not just that he has a history of throwing in with the lefties, but how many Republicans will be scared to defy him.

This goes double when the historical standard is that Americans love split government, and Congress can conceivably flip to the Dems soon. Whereas under Hillary, I’m confident Rs would hold congress.

Bottom line: Gun control is more likely under a Trump presidency than it ever would have been under Hillary.

    • I suppose so. But consider his track record so far. He’s far more consevatively than anyone since Reagan. All it will take is for one democrat to call him “nazi” (ironically) regarding gun control, and the gloves will come off.
