Anyone have a source for………

Sceptre military-style water cans? Best I can find is at Lexington Container but I was hoping for something closer to Montana to save on shipping. Clarification: Scepter..not ‘just like Scepter’ or ‘private labelled but made by Sceptre’ or ‘better than Sceptre’.

    • Only that the cheap $10 water jug from Walmart doesn’t hold up worth a damn. I speak from experience.

      • I would highly disagree with this statement. Maybe we went talking about the same jugs. 3 years ago I walked away from a property I was trying to buy and found myself living offgrid on 40 acres with no no running water. We have been carrying water in the 6gal Ozark trail jugs since. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Desert-Patrol-6-Gal-Water-Jug/16537207, I’m going to say they each get filled 4-5 times per week. Sometimes they ride home in our jerp, sometimes they lay on their sides in the back of a 3/4 ton truck. I’m not talking a trip around town either. We are talking a 10.5 mile trek up a unmaintained forest service road in all conditions. The paint on the floor and tailgate of the truck is worn off to bare metal. I have not had the bottoms wear our, the necks or handles crack, the screw on caps fail or any other issues. The vent caps if not properly pushed home will sometimes leak.

I would not recommend the 7 gallon aqua*tainer. Those lasted less than 2 months, the bottoms literally wore through riding in the truck, the plastic around the handles cracked and leaked.

Our water needs have been met with the Ozark Trail just for 3 straight years. I’d trust them with my life and my families.

    • From the link you provided: “not a scepter water can”
From my post: “Clarification: Scepter..not ‘just like Scepter’ or ‘private labelled but made by Sceptre’ or ‘better than Sceptre’.”

  1. Commander Zero – Try this link to a company called LC Industries.

    http://buylci.com/ItemDisplayF.aspx?D1=SKILCRAFT-Water-Bottle–5-gal–OD-Green–Plastic&ItemID=600409

Purchases made here helps to create jobs for blind Americans. They used to mfg. these water cans in Hazelhurst Mississippi during the war but I’m not sure they’re made there now. They appear to now be made by a contractor for LC Industries named Skilcraft.
I was searching around for info and found this thread on AR15.com from several years ago :
    https://www.ar15.com/forums/outdoors/-/17-634705/

These folks appear to have been satisfied with the cans. However, the site is not too user friendly. Follow the link to go straight to the can but you may have to set up an account to get it to let you order. I had to.

They also have a lot of other things under the “Shop Departments” tab then drop down to “Tactical Supplies.” At $23.99 per can, I think this might be what your looking for. Oh, by the way, when I checked out, there was no charge for shipping either.
I just ordered 4 water cans, 5 gallon, olive drab color for $95.96 & free shipping.
    Good Luck

    • Just FYI that LCI is actually where many military units (using funds allocated for discretionary purchases) actually buy the water cans. Larger bases have an LCI store (like a tiny Walmart) with everything from the skill craft gov issue ball point pens to water cans to hand sanitizer etc etc.

More expensive is Sportmans Warehouse. The have the scepter cans in 5 gallon as well as a half size (well, 10 liter) that is way easier to manage; I keep one in the truck.

    • Thx for this – set up a delivery for 1 as I could have used water in the car the other day…won’t happen again. Hopefully the markings prove true and that it is a decent can. I have stored water for home but have wanted something like this for awhile.

  2. I second the LCI water cans. They work great and the price is fair. Website is not very user friendly though.

  3. I’ve ordered from the above and am very pleased. Couldn’t get on their wedsite so called toll free number. Confessed my ignorance about computers and setting up password so young girl tried to help me but transferred me to older woman several desks away who actually took me step through step till my password was accepted. Young girl was blind and yes they really do use part of their money for jobs for the blind. So, I ordered 4 like the guy above and a week later got an email saying it would be delayed 3-4 weeks and I had the option to cancel. Of course I didn’t and it actually came in 2 weeks.

What isn’t available from the nearest base near me has to be obtained from another base further away. When possible I always look at them first as I’d like my money to go to a useful cause and everyone was so nice and beyond helpful.

You young folks (I’m 73 and the computer doesn’t come easily) will have an easier time with their website. Probably. Very happy with product.

  4. Try sportsman guide in minnesota. Has surplus stuff. I got british water cans on one occsassion and canadian scepters another time. Fair prices, solid military grade stuff.

  5. Just received my order (4-14-18) of four, brand new dark green, LC Industries water cans today (4-20-18). Their site actually has a box to post a date that you want them delivered with free shipping. This was the date that I requested when I placed my order.
A single box with all four cans inside. These are the exact same heavy duty water cans that the military uses. I have seen used mil-surp cans at a local surplus store and these are the same ones. Heavy duty is the word for these. Caps were included with each can. I guess demand from the military is down for these cans is why the price is currently so low at $23.99 each. I have seen them as high as $75.00 each on Amazon. I highly recommend them and plan to make another order in the near future.

  6. I picked up two Canadian manufacture Sceptre cans at Academy Sports and Outdoors this weekend for $18.99 ea.
