.223 vs. 5.56mm and other nub questions
I am in the market for a mil-spec M4-gery and am leaning heavily towards a DPMS sold at a local gunsmith here. I have an Arsenal AK but this will be my first AR rifle. I have a few questions regarding ammunition:
1. What is the difference between the Federal .223 bought at the sporting goods store and military grade 5.56×45? I understand there is a difference between the two… I am hoping that I can get a rifle that fires both the civilian and military rounds.
2. I planning to buy the heavier forged receiver and barrel. My rationale is that it will be more robust and less likely to have problems with the gas bolt carrier. Am I correct in this or do I have bad info?
3. Can I fire reloads through this rifle reliably? I am not a reloader (yet) and want to stock up on rounds. Recommendations for ammunition acquisition?

I’m in total agreement. The recent attempt legislation will not make it out of committee—because that’s not it’s purpose. They’re just feeling the waters and developing an early base so when some whacko goes off with an EBR, there will be plenty of support. The legislation is sensitizing for later polarization.

I have FFL’s here already from BR and SP. If you can get a better deal from another FFL on a transfer, have ’em email me a scan of their FFL or snailmail me a copy if youre interested in the lowers.
