Article – Americans Are Frantically Buying Military Gear Before the Election

Conflict is on America’s streets in 2020, and “tactical apparel” has become a lifestyle industry serving militarized law-enforcement agents and the freelance gunmen who emulate them. Less than two weeks before Election Day, orders are rolling in. Since last year, online purchases have driven a 20-fold jump in sales of goods like the $220 CM-6M gas mask — resistant to bean-bag rounds — for Mira Safety of Austin, Texas. “It doesn’t matter who gets elected,” founder Roman Zrazhevskiy said of his new customers. “They think that no matter who wins, Biden or Trump, there are going to be people who are upset about the result.” Not long ago — perhaps a generation — dressing like you’re going to war was for the veteran who never quite made it back from Vietnam or the angry young men who obsessed over gas masks and combat boots at the military surplus store. (Every American town seemed to have one, and only one.)

I have to snicker because there really should be a distinction here and it is completely missed in the article – people buying the gear now are interesting, but not as interesting as the ones who already bought it long before this happened.

Rioting? Sure. In places like NY, California, Chicago, various parts of the south. But a nationwide blood-in-the-streets uprising like you see in the Middle East everytime some dictator gets out-dictated? ‘Technical’ pickup trucks? No..not a chance.
I suspect that with all these articles about ‘Americans preparing for anarchy’ might morph into a self-licking ice cream cone. Really, such a circumstance is the sort of thing media types salivate over so it seems it wouldbe in their interest to instigate/foster/encourage such chaos.
I think that in three weeks we’re gonna see that this whole thing, no matter who wins, was not the ‘Purge’-like event that people were forecasting.

  1. the Portland-like examples of shit storms will be few and far between. 98% of the people know how to act. Those that don’t will get their just deserts.

Here in the US we have a pretty sweet gig. Those that crap in the nest will get tossed out by the rest of the flock.

  2. In two more weeks here in Eau Claire, WI it’s going to start getting mighty cold.

We might see a small rally/protest downtown and maybe there’s even a fight or two, but it’s all going to be over in two hours and all you have to do to avoid being negatively impacted by it is to not go there.

Minneapolis is the nearest big city and I’m sure there will be bigger to-do’s kicking off over there, but again, MSP is a really big place and for the overwhelming majority of people not being involved or impacted by it Just means not going to where the protests/rallies/riots are.

  3. While I agree that the post election environment will be close to what you three describe, I think you’re missing the bigger picture possibilities.

I think many people are planning not for the short term post election chaos (which I agree is easily avoided), I think many people are planning for the possibility of a post election “clean sweep” by the Dems of both houses and the presidency. If we thought Obamacare was rammed threw quickly, the next two years will see plethora of potential laws infringing on our constitutional rights. I don’t think that future is a Yugoslavia future but one that reasonable people feel the need to prepare for.

    • “…If we thought Obamacare was rammed threw quickly, the next two years will see plethora of potential laws infringing on our constitutional rights….”

I will NEVER forgive the RINO party for not doing just that in Trump’s first 2 years. I expected supressors treated as simple firearms At A Minimum and they absolutely caved to the media. There’s just 2 different flavors of crooks anymore.

      • Paul Ryan is at the top of that list…so much could have been accomplished legislatively if he wasn’t in the lobbyists and Big Corporate pockets.

  4. Interesting. Tactical apparel is the last thing I’m buying right now. To each his own, I guess.
We’ll probably see a ‘national garage sale’ on Craigslist & eBay in ~2 years.

  5. I don’t feel so certain about the future. There seems to be a change in our society. The Leftist/commie types seem more willing to act. The media darlings like the group that plans to “shut down DC until Trump resigns” is just that. Media darlings wanting attention. The ones that make me worry are the ones that are die hard leftist that want revolution. Most that I have seen interviewed are dumber than a box of rocks, but they can be trained up and used and if they lose a few (or most) they have plenty more waiting in the wings. Our society has evolved into a very complex one. One that is fragile. If single people like the cop in Cali or the pair in Va. can affect life so much, think what a dozen or so platoon sized groups could do, especially if trained and armed by experts from overseas. What would our country look like if they shot down a half dozen airliners on take off using MANPADs? Or blew up oil and gas pipe lines or electrical grids. Or started shooting truck drivers? Things would crash fast…how would frightened sheeple react? Hate to find out. My biggest prep was getting the hell out of the big city. My current neighbors are 200 head of feeder steers. Nice place to be.
