Who said 2021 was going to be better than 2020?

Finals week, thats why.

So how are things going in the soon-to-be land o’ Biden? One thing I was confident of, a huge slump in the market, failed to materialize (yet) so I’m 0 for 1 on that one. In fact, the market is pretty close to what it was at the beginning of the year, meaning that if you didn’t take advantage of the freefall we had in March you might be kicking yourself now.

On the other hand, one thing I was right about is the continued demand for gun stuff and the resultant shortages (and pricing). Earlier this year I had the opportunity to buy bulk CCI 9mm ammo for $0.15/@ … and oh Crom, how I wish I had the foresight to get a pallet of that stuff. Easy doubling of money. Triple, even. But, if I could read the future Id be sitting on the several hundred thousand acre Rancho Ballistica enjoying the fruits of my prescience and planning (further) regional domination.

So whats going on these days? Well, the ‘easy’ stuff has been pretty much taken care of… basically any preparedness need that can be satisfied by Walmart or CostCo… has been. Whats left is the bigger, more complicated stuff – money in the bank, more metal, and other steps towards increasing my resilience. On top of that, though, I also have to do all the things for ‘normal life’ in case the world doesn’t come to an end. (Although at this stage..hey…what’re the odds? Y’know?)

Everyone seems to have an attitude of “OMG, I can’t wait for 2020 to be over.” But it does not seem to have occurred to them that there is no promise that 2021 is going to be better, in fact, 2021 may be worse. Perhaps even a lot worse. Just because the odometer on 2020 is rolling over doesn’t mean you’re out of the woods. It ain’t over until its over..and even then it isn’t over. If you’re thinking about letting your foot off the gas because, whew, we made it thoguh 2020…you’re being foolishly short-sighted.

2021 is still going to have the strong flavor of 2020, but with a few new notes. I’ve got some personal milestones coming up in 2021 so even if the Shanghai Shivers gets under control I still have a tumultuous year to look forward to. So…I keep doing what i’ve been doing – be smart, be careful, plan ahead, weigh options, act strategically. Might be worth doing the same for you.

  1. As long as his handlers continually remind the president-elect what year it is; where he is;.and whom he is talking to…all will be well🥸

  2. Unfortunately, CZ I believe you are right on. Looks like Trump’s legal battles are fizzling out, and sleepy Joe & krazy Kamala the commie will be up next. If we lose the Senate, it might be worse than the early Clinton years. At least in those days, it was available, pricey but available, now the guns/ammo are pricey & not available.

    • If you recall the Clinton years, then price and availability should make absolutely zero impact on you since you would have stocked up like crazy after the Clinton ban expired.

      • Oh Absolutely, I was mocked by my fellow reloading buddies, every year Brownells has their ‘hazmat free fee day’, I bought 5,000 every year, large pistol primers one year, small pistol the next, large rifle, than small rifle, repeat… Now they are coming over asking for primers! I hear you brother!

  3. Here in KCMO, I’ve noticed that there is an awakening. Not panic so far, but just a rush on everyday goods. TP and paper towels in stock, but one thing I noticed at my local grocery was that they were stocking shelves during the day. I asked a clerk (whom I’ve known for years) what was going on. She said they are restocking shelves 4 times a day. Can’t keep up.

Same day, went to my local favorite gun dealer just to see what the atmosphere was like. On any good day, they may have 15-20 people shopping. That day the lot was full, over 100 people in line, and shelves were quite bare. I did manage to grab their last 4 boxes of 10mm (pricey and thankfully no limit). The owner said he doubted he would ever see any more delivered.

CZ, I’ve followed you for years and am like minded. I’m very happy to be in a good spot right now with all or most necessities. I’ve been around the block a few times, former LE, always practicing good situational awareness, scoping people out, etc. I’m not a fear monger, but whats going on this time doesn’t feel right this time.

Oh, about forgot to mention, I’m only a news watcher for weather and traffic, otherwise its background noise. Today, I did overhear a conversation on morning news from some “professional” consultant that it is highly recommended that we all spend cash on Black Friday….now that makes no sense.

  4. Another interesting post. I will admit that last March I got shaken up by the market free fall. But since then things have bounced back nicely, very nicely.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Biden. One thing I’ve learned is how true the old saw “do you want to speak with the guy in charge or the flunky who knows what’s going on?” is. Don’t kid yourself, the guy at the top and his political appointees get fed cherry-picked information so they will make the decisions that the senior bureaucrats want to be made. While there are times this doesn’t work, it works more often than you would believe.

  5. Remember back in April when we said funny stuff like “when this all blows over in a few weeks”?
Biden will be President, it has been a certainty since they announced it a few days after the election. All of the drama of court battles and evidence of fraud found on a German computer was the exact same desperate denial of reality we saw from the left when Trump won. Does any one remember their fantasies of the electoral college not awarding him the points or being able to impeach him as soon as he took office? Exact same thing, the sooner you accept this the sooner you can prepare for its outcomes.
I think you are right about a market dip but not until it looks like his promised tax raises and green new deal bills look like they’ll pass.

  6. Well said, CZ, though I’ll still be glad to see 2020 in the rearview. Not that it’s been terrible, just tired of it, though there have been a few valuable lessons learned. Looking forward to the challenges of a new year ;-). And, as always, Semper Paratus.

  7. i think we have seen the last of the good ol days we will see in my lifetime or likely ever. we are witnessing the demise of the human race, by our own hand. hard to believe our existence has come to nothing, but it is what it is. and all our preps will have been in vain, just delaying the agony.

    • Do you think any generation since the ancient Greeks has ever felt differently than what you just said? The answer is no, every man dies a stranger in his own country.

      • but this time is different. this time we dumbed ourselves down to the point of being vulnerable to every cataclysm that may come along. can you imagine in 30 years or so some random space debris hurdles toward earth but they can do nothing but kiss their ass goodbye b/c thy got rid of everything needed to do anything about it including the knowledge. or better yet, we’ll be coming out of covid hell with no immunity to common ailments that wipe us off this rock. but more likely the warmongers get their wish.

        • Like I have told my daughter, I survived through Carter, Clinton, and Obama. We will survive the Harris/Biden era also. Trump 2024!!!!

Also, I kind a wonder what the gurus of the prepper/survivalist movement of the 1970s would say about our current challenge(s), since they were prepping for nuclear Armageddon after all. Sometime it’s just a matter of perspective. It’s something like every generation since 37AD has thought it was the end-times. How we remember this event in 15, 20, or 30 years from now is anyone’s guess.

  8. I’m just guessing here, but I believe if SCOTUS fails us and Trump, refuses to hear or reverse the obviously fraudulent election results. Beijing Joe and camel face jar jar kneepads end up as president and vice weasel (to nice a term but it’s all I can come up with), it will be much much worse that any of the clitoris and odumbfuc pos years.
This time they will go all out and total disarmament and confiscation will be full on. With outright taxation to death or outright confiscation they will “attempt” to disarm the American public pronto. Then turn the whole shiteree over to the globalists.
However this shitshow turns out, the America we grew up in and learned about its inherent values, is over. These asshats intend to completely ignore the Constitution and whatever rights it portends to propose and protect. Only way I can see out of this it to engage in 1776 part ll. With a few amendment deletions and additions. The 1st and 2nd, 4th and 14th, shall remain untouched, and an additional one to ban and prohibit ALL political parties. You want to run for political office you will have to run on your own merits and record, negating any loyalty to any party or ideology.
To get their attention to exactly how vulnerable they really are, I’m thinking we need to seriously shut down the transportation system for month or two, preferably three. Shut every damn truck on the road down and let the bastards squirm….. At this point in time. They want to play that game, OK, let’s play…..Game on !!!!

    • @enn ess
Oh that’s brilliant. Murder thousands of your fellow citizens from lack of basic necessities and medical care.

How many days supplies do you think hospitals Can keep on hand? Who cares you say, bunch of sickly ppl should just die and get it done? (I know you didn’t say that but consequences matter!) Ok, how about you have an accident of any kind? Appendicitis?

You write off the big cities? (Ditto earlier) How long do you think small town and rural water will keep flowing? As well as sewer for the small towns.

How about electricity and natural gas?

You think those city ppl won’t fan out to become a ravening hoard of locusts?

There is certainly a vibe that “something even more wicked this way comes”. I feel it.
I don’t like it. How about we not make it worse? Sufficient unto the day are the troubles we have. Time will come when you may wish it was only as bad as now. These may become “the good old days”.

@enn ess I’m sure many of us are equally frustrated. I would rather we not kick ourselves and thousands or millions more of our fellow citizens While they’re already down. Eh?

      • Where is your line drawn? Mine is here and now. I guess your words “Murder thousands of your fellow citizens…” prevents a line. There is no good time to say enough, hopefully when you decide to say enough it is not too late.

  9. I saw range-quality 9mm recently priced just shy of $.50/round. It will probably get more expensive before it gets cheap again. Guys I know who are personally well-stocked on ammo have nonetheless decided that it’s dry-fire practice only until availability returns. Most everyone I talk to thinks that may take years.

Whether it’s investment stocks, ammo, or whatever, you never feel like you’ve bought enough when you see the price go through the roof.

I agree with you entirely that there are zero guarantees when it comes to quality of life or strife in 2021.

  10. Yeah, itll be another shitshow, but remember that neither clintoon or the hnic broke us. The Dementia poster child wont break us either.
That which does not kill me makes me stronger. The only sure way into Valhalla is to go out fighting.

  11. Dear Friends, What we all need to hear are words of Encouragement not more words of Discouragement. I live in the land of the Hurricane. I learned long ago that if you have none of something you really need. Any price is a bargain. All journeys start with a First step. Let us get started. What we have is better than what we do not have. It is Our Way. The American Way!

  12. What you all are ignoring is that if Trump can’t Beat The Cheat now, there will NEVER be another election worth bothering with. You will only see an increasingly more authoritarian Democrat occupying all the seats. The blatant, in your face cheating will be the new normal at all levels of government. Kiss your ass (and your guns) goodbye.

    • Haha, you really think this is the first time Democrats have stolen an election. Democrats have been stealing elections since the inception of the party. The KKK was their first armed group to keep certain people away from the polls, now they have BLM and Antifa. Nothing has changed in the Democrat party other than the uniforms. They have always been about power and enslavement of the people.

      • It’s not the first time the Dems have stolen an election, but one way or another it will be the last. Either Trump wins the fight and shuts down the cheating, or the Dems win and there is never another election. Trump is going to win: that’s as certain as any future event can be.
