Keeping eyes and ears open

Hmmm….

President Joe Biden will unveil a package of executive actions to curb gun violence on Thursday — a step that is likely to be cheered by increasingly impatient advocates despite being relatively modest in scope.
…..
Among the actions Biden will take will be to direct the Department of Justice to begin, within 30 days, the process of requiring buyers of so-called ghost guns — homemade or makeshift firearms that lack serial numbers — to undergo background checks and, within 60 days, regulating concealed assault-style firearms, according to the White House.

And from WSJ:

The Justice Department has 60 days to propose a new rule that would restrict arm braces that are often used with AR-15-style pistols, which are smaller versions of AR-15-style rifles. The braces are designed to stabilize the pistols, but can also be used like shoulder stocks, effectively transforming them into short-barreled rifles, which are heavily restricted under federal law, according to gun-control advocates.

And just like that….I spent a lot of money…again.

  1. Home Depot & Lowe’s are sold out of shovels.
Glad I bought a backhoe years ago.

  2. They don’t have enough troops in the Notional Guard to put around the District of Criminals if they think this is going to fly.

And some of the ones they already have are going to be pointing their weapons in, not out.

    This will end well…

  3. now’s not the time to bury them, its the time to use them. i always aim to be the best at whatever i am doing. if they want to make me a criminal, well, i aim to be the best. bfytw.

    • There is a line in a Matt Bracken novel to the effect “If it’s time to bury your guns, it’s already time to dig them up again”. I can’t find it, but the idea sticks with me.

  4. There is no such thing as gun violence. It is violence by people using guns, We do not hear about rock violence, club violence, frying pan violence, or anything but “gun violence. It is people violence, And yes, it is increasing because those committing it are being allowed to get away with it. I did not hear in the Bible that God blamed the rock for killing Abel, I believe the Bible says it was Cain. The tool does not matter.

  5. I wonder if that aborted attempt months ago to mandate registry of brace-equipped pistols was a trial balloon for something they now plan to enact.

Many gun owners currently posses brace-equipped firearms. It would be very interesting to see what percentage of owners would willingly comply with an order to register them as SBRs.

  6. If Joe was smart, he would declare a short amnesty with free and expedited tax stamps to get everyone on the registry. Or categorize them as AOWs. $5 stamp. Still get them into a registry. Lots of guys are more concerned about the $200 than they are about their rights being stolen away. They (Dems) don’t understand how easy it would be to register tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of weapons by simply giving us what we want. In this case, it would be a pretty slick trap.

But, if we who already own brace-equipped pistols are declared to be in violation of the law, I will just put actual stocks on the pistols. Might as well go all in.

  7. If you buy an arm brace at this point you are wasting your money. The vendors are jacking up their prices on-line for something that will be irrelevant if they reclassify these pistols as SBRs. Let be honest, the arm brace was a cheap work around to the 200 tax stamp to all along have an SBR. I personally would like to see the NFA go away all together, but do not see that happening anytime soon.

With that said, I am really surprised he did not ban the importation of firearms kits and ammunition, which the President can do unilaterally. So, at least for now that should keep flowing. So, if you want to throw some money at something, I recommend this area of investment!!!!

      • Most of the kits are AK pattern that use correct number of American parts to be 926 compliant. You can check out Atlantic Firearms. Use the email notification since most show out of stock. Some like PSA will sell part kits also and you can build your own.

        • Building an AKM is a fairly complicated endeavor. It’s not like “building” an AR. It requires some equipment and skill.

Also they aren’t the bargain they used to be. Kits have doubled or even tripled in price in the last couple years.

          • Yep, but in another five years you may not even be able to purchase one. I remember back before Bush did his thing with banning new full autos, that a new Colt M16 was running 600. Now you’re north of 20,000 for an exiting one. Another example would be a cheap Norinco AK for 299 and now 2000 plus.

  8. “With that said, I am really surprised he did not ban the importation of firearms kits and ammunition, which the President can do unilaterally. ”

They’ve already said more is coming. I figure this will be among the “more”.

Keep pushing, Leftists. That switch is going to flip someday, just when no one expects it. And just like that, it will be “Cowboys and Leftists”.

    • Yep, just surprised he did not pull the “trigger”, what is he waiting for because he could have done a hell of a lot more damage!!! So, get to buying while this window remains open!!!!

    • I don t know if I would buy an AR made overseas!! Biden can not do anything concerning domestic production of firearms and ammunition without congress. However, he does have full authority under the Constitution to limit commerce coming into the U.S. That’s what I was referring too.

      • Zhou can’t ban imports without congressional authorization, in this case GCA and the NFA and then he needs to do it through the regulatory process.
which is how they banned the import of Russian milsurp ammo.

        • And if they propose a new reg, whatever they propose to ban will instantly sell out, becoming dispersed amongst millions of Americans rather than sitting on pallets in a warehouse, which can be easily seized
I remember when Obama tried to ban green tip ammo, tens of millions of rounds were sold almost immediately,
My policy is that every time they propose new gun restrictions I buy a new gun, this time I used the 1400 Biden bucks to do so, I thought that would be the most appropriate use of that money

        • He already does under the following congressional actions:
          International Emergency
Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.),
          the National Emergencies
          Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.),
the Arms Export Control Act, as amended
          (22 U.S.C. 2751 et seq.)

Remember he just announced gun violence as a public health crises!!! Guess what just became a national emergency!!!

          • Even easier, he can use his “Trump” card and impose Tariffs so high no one could afford to purchase the imported firearms and ammunition.

  9. If the ATF thought these changes could get through the court system they would have done them years ago. The ATF is absolutely terrified of having some of their “interpretations” scrutinized by the judiciary. Recently they actually dropped a felon in possession case after he argued that the ATF had misclassified AR lowers as firearm receivers. They also recently had a serious loss in the bump stock case and that’s a much easier hill to climb.

Additionally my state just passed and signed into law a second amendment sanctuary law preventing state and local law enforcement from enforcing any further federal firearms regulations. So at least in this state, and likely more to follow, the feds will.be on their own for enforcement.
