2007, The Box, Buying urge, Colorado snows

Well, the world didnt come to an end in 2006. Not for me, anyway.
Still theres no shortage of things on the ‘To Do’ list.

Hey, remember The Box? The bunker that kitiara and I looked at back in 9/04? Heres the coordinates for Google Earth if you wanna see it: 46.081522°,-112.115643°
Wonder whats become of it……

2007 needs to see me making moves towards neutralizing any antigun agenda a Democrat/Hillary victory in 2008 will cause. I still maintain that the Democrats will win in 2008 but only if they dont run Hillary. If they run her then I call it a Republican victory. Someone pointed out to me that for the price of the Steyr .50 that I want I could buy about 45 stripped AR lowers. Thats a hell of a perspective.

Stranded motorists in Colorado are being searched for by plane. :::facepalm::: When the forecast calls for ‘glaciers, with possible ice age’ the smart money stays home. And, if for some reason, you feel you have to be out in that crap then at least have the brains to pack The Usual Winter Gear. Natural selection in action, folks. Snow..in Colorado..in the winter! Who would have thought!

  1. I still maintain that the Democrats will win in 2008 but only if they dont run Hillary. If they run her then I call it a Republican victory.

I agree. That’s the big question for me for the 2008 race: will the Democrats nominate Hillary?

  2. I think that even the most ardent Hillarista (note: I now coin this term) has to admit that she is, at best, polarizing. The Bush administration has left a very bad taste in many peoples mouths and this is going to cost them the election in 2008 unless the Democrats run someone who incites such a visceral repsonse that the Republican candidate starts to look good. I liken it to what happened when Nixon left people so disgusted it paved the way for an otherwise unelectable bumpkin like Carter.

  3. The National Guard was out rescuing motorists the first 36 hours of the blizzard as well. They were activated by Governor Bill Owens, who also declared statewide emergencies twice in the last two weeks. Given how fiscally conservative Owens is, that’s impressive.

The forecasts were timely and accurate, which is admittedly unusual for Colorado weather forecasts; we have notoriously changeable weather. Even so, people had no excuse to be stuck out in the snow like that.

  4. The Box…

Hey.. GREAT SITE… found you through the JWR article…

I was wondering how you got the list of inactive Microwave sites that were for sale… didja contact American Tower for the list?

  5. Re: The Box…

Believe it or not – eBay!

Someone emailed me with a ‘Hey, check this out!’ link. Since then I search eBays real estate section using keywords ‘survival, bunker, retreat, shelter’ and once in a while a missle silo or communications relay facility turns up.
