Articles – Canadian police found in undercover operation at Great Falls gun show

Two articles about a little Canuckistan/Federal op at the Great Falls gun show:

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – According to Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter, local county employees and people noticed someone with Canadian plates watching people at the gun show.

Once deputies and the sheriff arrived, the operation was shut down immediately.
….
The police officer was assigned to a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Task Force for gun smuggling and was working with ATF.

And

Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter on Saturday broke up an investigation carried out in apparent coordination between federal and Canadian authorities at a Great Falls gun show, saying those agencies had not contacted his office beforehand.

Although state law does not require federal investigators to obtain approval from local law enforcement to conduct operations, the agents left the fairgrounds “reluctantly” and without issue. Slaughter has positioned himself as a “constitutional sheriff,” which theorizes sheriffs are the ultimate authority in their county — above local, state and federal officials — raising questions in this incident about possible friction between layers of law enforcement.

I suspect sheriff Slaughter just won himself a re-election.

This sort of behavior was notorious from California law enforcement. Theyd hit the Nevada gun shows, and sometimes even Nevada gun stores, and look for cars in the parking lots with CA plates. They’d then follow the CA-plated car back across the border into CA and pull them over to search for guns and related items that were prohibited in the glorious peoples republic of California. (Ever notice all the socialist places start with C and end with A? California, China, Cuba, Canada, etc…)

Remember guys – if youre buying thundertoys and ammo, keep that situational awareness going. Put that FAL or AUG in a case or something when you take it back to your car if you think its prudent. What you buy is no one’s business but your own.

I suppose the cautious man might remove the plates from his vehicle once he parks at the gun show. And the more JamesBond-y might keep a spare set of plates off a wrecked car to quickly swap out. But, regardless of your level of paranoia, it seems it might be a good idea to always operate under the assumption someone is watching.

  1. This is why the smart people would take a taxi , Uber, etc., from and back to the hotel from out-of-state gun shows. (I heard..)
And pay in cash. Period. No exceptions.

    OPSEC isn’t for lazy people.

And if you’re not paranoid, you’re not paying attention.

      • Which was to do with anything in this post?
Read whatever you like, and save the sour grapes and butthurt for someone who cares.

          • So you double down on the butthurt, and add vitriol and invective?
How intelligent it makes you sound. (The misspelling helps there too.)
You’ve misjudged both your audience, and your perspicacity.

    • DITTO on all you said! And it’s not paranoia when they are really after you!

  2. Might be amusing to carry a heavy, empty long gun case back to one’s vehicle to see what happens.
Be even funnier if one had dash cams going to document what happens….

    Steelheart

    • Even better have fishrods or a black powder longgun in the bag after all I’m sure a lot get sold at gun shows

  3. Well well. So Trudi Castro Jr has his Gestapo running ops in the US. Guess I’ll send this to a friend in Canada. He is no fan of this White Obama clone.
Thankfully after several years of Conservative party fecklessness they now have a version of Trump that has untied the Conservative factions in Canada.
This is beyond the pale. Hopefully in 2023 Trudi will have to move back to Cuba in order to remain a dictator. Just like dear old dad Fidel.

  4. Canadians I’ve spoken to this summer who have summer homes on this side of the border were considering leaving Canada. They should.

  5. Ugh, unfortunately I’m not surprised…

I wonder if we’ll see any ramifications for the sheriff? I suspect not – the feds won’t want to draw much attention to this; I’m sure they do it at shows in other states also.
It’s a good reason to get some exercise and park at the back of the lot instead of close in.

  6. Odd you should say that. My friend in Canada had ancestors that immigrated from Sweden to America back in the 1800s. Right after the turn of the 20th century they moved to Canada.
Me on the other hand had a great great grandfather who was born in Ireland in 1843 and his parents made a winter crossing in 1844. For some reason I cannot discover they were denied entry into the US. Which is odd because Dearborn Michigan was a major entry point for Irish families. Including Henry Ford’s people.
In 1867 my great great grandfather and his wife came to the US. From research my aunt did. She found several cousins who still reside in Ontario Canada.
With luck the crap that Trudi Castro Jr is pulling will sour Canadians into turning away from the leftist parties in Canada. As it stands in the last election a deal with some if the smaller parties allowed Trudi to maintain a very small majority but still be elected Prime Minister. The world is waking up to the nasty plans of the Global elites. Italy has returned to sanity. As did Hungry under Victor Orban. Who was reelected even in the face of billions of Euros being spent by the elites of the NWO and the World Economic Forum. They are all mobbed up with the likes of George Soros, Bill Gates, Tom Styer and Micheal Bloomberg. Just to name a few.
The one thing they forget. Without the regular people these idiots can’t feed themselves. Nor cloth themselves. They can’t do much else for themselves. Like the Aristocrats of Europe. When they over stepped and became tyrannical the peasants would revolt. As they did during the region of King John II in England. The Magna Carta came from that. The recognition by the crown that all English men and women had rights the crown was required to recognize and respect. From that in later times our founders drew on that beginning to create our founding documents. That seed was planted first in English law. And was exported around the world.
If you don’t believe me. Go find the stupid Bulshiska that Micro Mike Bloomberg spewed from his pie hole about how to plant a corn field. And how easy farming was. Left to his own devices that self styled little Mandarin want a be would starve in two weeks.

    • MP: your Irish emigrant ancestors might have been blocked due to concerns over disease. During the Irish Famine there were repeated outbreaks of typhus and cholera both in Ireland and on the ‘coffin ships’ that brought many emigrants to North America. Ships landing in Canada dropped their passengers at the Grosse Île quarantine station near Québec City. Some of my ancestors spent several years in Québec before being allowed to complete their plans to emigrate to the US Midwest.

We can expect similar quarantines and border closures in the future — and not just over matters of disease. We’ve seen them just recently in the COVID-19 hysteria, and across Europe such measures have been taken to control political and economic refugees.

A second passport can be a very useful tool. I was born in the US as were most of my father’s family, going back several centuries in some cases. But my mother was born in the North of Ireland, so I also have Irish (and, theoretically British) citizenship. I keep my Irish passport up to date, just in case.

  7. Friends in law enforcement inform there are a large number of undercover officers at all the big gun shows. Since our state borders California one has to be careful. We were in line once waiting for a show to open (at the county fairgrounds) when a man and woman started going down the line asking folks ‘…to buy a gun for me and my boyfriend from New Mexico…’ Luckily my son told them to piss off, I just looked at them and didn’t answer (my new technique, just don’t say anything, easy game) three people went out of the show in handcuffs after stupidly agreeing to do a straw purchase, the couple were undercover ATF agents.

When selling guns ask the buyer ‘…are you a legal purchaser in ________ (your current state) ?’ if they say ANYTHING except yes right away then don’t sell them a firearm, it’s probably a set up. I’ve turned down a few folks who started answering my simple question with some sort of psycho babble.

Put a sign at your table stating, “Private party one time sale”. If anyone starts asking probing questions tell them to have a nice day and move along or just don’t answer.

    • I was at a fun show near the CA border 2 weeks ago; lots of people from out of state or ineligible to buy tried to buy from me, MUCH worse than other shows I’ve done.
The show was expensive and didn’t have much business either… Probably won’t go back…

  8. Sheriff Slaughter has won my vote. I’m kinda new in town (just shy of 3 years), but his action is as good a signpost as any for that race.

    Kurt

  9. I would love to see legal analysis on allowing foreign police to conduct operations within the United States. I would have loved to have seen them arrested and prosecuted by the local sheriff for operating out of their jurisdiction. I read recently that this administration is allowing the Chinese police to operate in the US. Very disturbing.

    • I suppose it depends on what you mean by ‘operating’. Is observing someone in public ‘operating’? If so, how does that differ than a non-cop observing someone in public? Theres a lot of questions in there. No doubt things like effecting an arrest or conducting searches would be off limits, but sitting somewhere with a notepad copying down license plate numbers? Not sure about that.

      • Commander, you should realize the Sheriff could have arrested and prosecuted the Mountie and Feds for any charge (that’s how the game is played) and quickly ended their careers. He was probably too afraid of a Fedarkancide.

    • I recently read article that communist china is setting up their own police style stations here in the U.S. to keep track of their people. Don’t know if it is true, but if it is, grab your what-cha-ma-call-it because it will be one son of gun ride in more ways than one.

  10. I think removing your license plates at a gunshow might be a giant flag for LE, who would then have probable cause to run the VIN to see if the car was stolen..

    • Agreed. And if you use someone else’s plates and get stopped it’d be even worse.
That’s why I suggest parking far away instead, especially if there is a lot across the street so they can’t record you leaving the lot.

  11. My days working at a gun shop a mile from the Washington DC border we always had cops hanging out watching for DC tags.
I we got some really Sketchy Hood Rat we’d go out front of the store to give them a heads-up and we always had ATF sneaking in trying to bait us but they were so obvious it was sad. I remember 2 of them that came in light jackets short haircut matching foot wear. Trying to get us to sell them some handguns saying they were form PA. I started to laugh at them and they wanted to know what was so funny. I said your Fed’s looking to try and bust us. They were no were not. So I pointed out the shoes ,jackets and matching haircuts they were like how did you figure out that. They were fresh out of the academy and no street experience.. They became regulars in the shop for guns and advice

    • Oh. Like those idiots that get bused all over the place and then run false flag ops as ” Patriot Front”. Pathetic Front more like it. When you see these idiots they all have the kaki pants. Black shirts and those haircuts that SCREAM FED.
      Ray Epps wanabees.

  12. Remember, it isn’t just gun feds that do this sort of thing.

It was not unheard of for Vermont tax authorities to monitor New Hampshire shopping areas for Vermont plates, hoping to catch people dodging the Vermont sales taxes. Happened in West Lebanon NH all the time.
