The corn and mashed potatoes are ones I don’t think I’ve seen in the store before. If youre local (or somewhat local) it might be a good time to head over to WinCo and grab a few things.
Winco (at least the one that was 25 minutes from our former DFW residence) has its own mashed potato flakes and potato shreds sold in bulk. I’ve got some of the shreds put away in mylar and a bucket. Don’t know how the cost (shreds plus mylar plus bucket) compares to the Augason Farms cans. The fruit is reasonably priced, although I don’t know where they source it from – a LOT of freeze dried and dehydrated fruit I’ve seen comes from China. I wouldn’t touch the substitute meat with a barge pole – get real meat (uncooked and cooked) from Freeze Dried Wholesalers (yes, it’s pricey). I have a couple of the butter powder cans, but I prefer the New Zealand Red Feather butter tins, which last – at controlled room temps – a minimum of two years, and in practice lot longer.
No Winco within a couple hundred miles of me now – but we will probably making a trip back to the city in the next 8-10 weeks, so we’ll see what’s available (and how much room we have in the car).
Those prices look pretty good, wonder if they bought out what wasn’t selling elsewhere.
The closest to me is 200 miles away, wish one was closer.
I’ve noticed that selection and price can vary considerably. We went to one in Salt Lake City that was NOT cheap, most things were more than the nearby Walmart.
Beef meat substitute…?
I don’t think I want to know.
Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is some concoction of soy which is terrible for real men.
The only things going for it is that it lasts and isn’t expensive.
Minimal flavor.
Slightly better than nothing…
Ceejay
I’ve never tried the massed potato’s. The Potato gems however are amazing.
We’re supposed to get a WinCO in northern CO later this year – will be interesting to see how they stock it
