How was my Paratus? Well, I got some very nice and thoughtful gifts from a few people this year and I am very grateful, and very touched at the generosity. I got stamps, bullets, magazines, borescopes, cards, greenmail, and a few other goodies as well. (And if I didnt mention your generous gift there, its just me being too lazy to sit down and comprise a list…your gift is appreciated, thank you!)
I also got more than a few emails from various people saying that theyve been following the property purchase saga and how they bought their property 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago and here’s the lessons they learned and want to pass on. I’ve gotten several of those emails and I really do appreciate, and take to heart, every one of them. A broad section of advice from folks who have BTDT is a powerful tool, and I thank you for sharing your experiences.
This year’s Paratus, like every year, always seems to have something hanging ominously in the air…pandemic, war, economy, assassinations, etc. But thats one of the things Paratus is for…to remind us that we do the things we do in order to be prepared against the unknown. We all know it’s going to happen, we just don’t know when…so, we prepare. Paratus is a day to recognize our efforts and maybe pat ourselves and our friends on the back and say ‘good job…you’re on the right track.’ And its a good time to re-focus, re-group, and re-engage on those things that maybe we haven’t been paying as much attention to as we should have.
So…that was Paratus 2025. On to 2026!
Damn, I completely forgot Paratus.
The 13th, a truck ran through my girl’s trailer. She wasn’t there, so not hurt, but lost her home. Monday I left for an onsite job in West Tennessee, so I couldn’t be here to help her. You could say I’ve been preoccupied.
Still, we’re counting our blessings, and I hope all had a great Paratus!
Happy Paratus.
In the spirit of giving and exchanging. Can I ask a question as to your comment/option on things in the air? Maybe your opinion and your commenters on this? I need a compass check pretty bad.
I’m seeing more hate on both sides that I could ever imagine. And its accelerating fast. The lefts hate was expected but I’m seeing hate from the right for anyone even fellow right members or the more hated moderates who offer questions/suggestions on anything other than standard locked in dogma on ways out of this collision. If you say the party the right always votes for aren’t doing anything, you are attacked. If you say Trump isn’t what people think he is, especially if you say he isnt the Messiah and should not be treated as such. If you say some of what Trump is doing is just as bad as the left and gives the left even more things they will do when they get back in power since Trump did it first. .Like the Jews are now another cant talk about them protected class, Giving Palantir access to Gov databases is wrong, Building data centers for data collection is for our future digital prison for all of us not just the left and is the end of speech. How many folks knew the Tech lords are now commissioned Lt Cols in the Army NG, think that’s a good thing also? Bring these up and instant attack to silence your opinions Its now OK to use the govt as a hammer since its “OUR” hammer? The right has begun silencing speech like the left and they wont acknowledge that fact. Some how now if you give a honest opinion or ask a real question to question motives you are personally attacked and questioned, you are some kind of satanic enemy or the usual you are a fed plant?
Is it just me or are other people seeing this?

Some say the US is slow walking to an authoritarian state. More like a jog now.
After a four-year hiatus, Yoder’s canned bacon is back. Only $33 for a 9-oz can. I thought that had to be a typo. Nope. Preppin’ ain’t cheap.
I actually tried this recipe once – it worked quite well.

Admittedly, the product had a tendency to shatter when fried off so you had bacon bits more than slices but if it was all you had to go in the bean pot…well, it’d be ok with me. I opened a jar that was nearly 10 years old and it was fine. If you have a pressure canner I highly recommend giving it a try.
If it’s true that it takes four pounds of raw bacon the fill that little can, then it’s equivalent to $8.25/lb. Not a horrid price for bacon with an essentially unlimited shelf life. Not a price I like, but not godawful when properly viewed. Although, each can should be accompanied by an opener and a fistful of napkins and maybe a fork.
I received your Paratus card CZ – Thank you for your thoughts !
Commander Zero has not posted today. Is it possible he was mistakenly swept up in the Rapture.
Pretty unlikely, Mike.
