CostCo Lithium Batts *

Was up at CostCo picking up some more lithium AA-batts at lunch. The price tag for the batteries had the dreaded asterisk (“*”) after it’s price. What does that mean, you ask?

SO, what this means, is that once the supply of Energizer lithium AA-batts at this CostCo is gone…theyre probably gone for a while. So if youre local, and you want lithium AA-batts (which you should use in all yhour critical devices), you need to hustle thee down to CostCo and snag the last few 18-packs that are there.

    • Why would they re-order them? Maybe their sales numbers show its not worth committing floorspace to it. Maybe the can’t get them at the same price anymore. Maybe they need room for seasonal stuff. Maybe, maybe, maybe…

      Plenty of reasons.

      • The comment meant that those batteries are always in demand in my aor, lots of gun folks, so i assumed it would be the same in yours for the same reason

  1. It’s most likely that they are switching to a different supplier for lithium batteries. They could be moving to a Kirkland branded item.

I’d head to my local Costco – if I had one. The nearest is over 200 miles from me, so I only stop when I’m in the area.

  2. Went to Costco a week ago specifically for more Energizer Lithium AAs and AAAs. Nope. Dammit. Being a good Capitalist, I bought a bunch of other stuff not on my list in order to make the hour drive worth it. Supporting the economy!

    • That isn’t being a Capitalist it is being a consumerist. Unless you are making a profit on what you buy. Go with shopping list and only diverge for a exceptional value with known usefulness. Stock deep on necessities, Alpha Strategy!

  3. Just to add some leverage, the Comment Box at the front of the store by the Customer Service desk is taken VERY SERIOUSLY by Management. If you are willing to stop a leave a note, you are serious about the comment. A request for a item may likely result in future restocking if available. Stopping at the customer service desk with a request for a item ( was it moved? Is it in stock? When is it next scheduled for delivery?) triggers the automated inventory control system to add priority to reorder/restock. Next if it is truly discontinued any excess is sold off to Ollie’s Discount or Last Chance Outlet for even greater discount but truly hit or miss on any item being found there. Gave up Costco Membership as it was no longer worth it even for cheapest gas, cheapest roast chicken or $1.50 hotdogs.
