The canteens seem like a fun buy. For a buck each they’ll make nice little giveaways for a few of the LMI, spares to keep on hand for third- or fourth-level guests during the apocalypse, ‘disposable’ gear for emergency packs, etc. C’,pm, man, theyre a buck a throw!

I’m with you. Soda bottles hold as much or more, they’re effectively free, and you could lash ’em to your belt if you had to.

also can lash two of them to opposite ends of a belt and carry slung over a shoulder. have even made from pants leg ends and canvas belts, to hold 2 to 3 liter size bottles on various hikes.
like a set of empty cans for cooking, a lot of re-cycled stuff can be made into useful items for a low tech survivialist. Wildflower 06
