You know, after 9/11 I remember thinking that while it was awesome to watch the military response and the amazing technologies that were deployed, I also realized that those same technologies could be focused inwards at anyone .gov didn’t like…and, in several ways, that happened as the surveillance state finally sprang forth.
Now I’m watching cancel culture go global. Financial services like Visa and Mastercard are refusing to do transactions in Russia. Various industries are cancelling contracts with Russia. Online service providers are cancelling services in Russia. And I wonder how many people realize that the only thing standing between you and getting that level of cancellation directed at you is how you are portrayed to the public.
We saw this a few years back with Operation Chokepoint where ‘unsavory’ businesses were frozen out of banking services….and gun shops (and related businesses) had accounts frozen and closed. Now imagine the day when you’re considered a ‘person of interest’ or ‘enemy of the state’ or ‘a racist nationalist’ or whatever the bad-guy-du-jour is.
Maybe you run a gun shop, or a right-wing blog, or you ran for a political office on an ‘unpopular platform’, or you were on some ‘right-wing radio show’, or you protested a school board policy, or any one of the many ways you can offend the left. The unblinking eye of the media turns it’s gaze on you and suddenly your bank no longer wants to process your credit card transactions, your credit cards get frozen, your cell carrier drops you because you’re ‘a hater’ or ‘a climate denier’ or ‘an anti-vaxxer’, your local dealership refuses to fix your vehicles, your doctors suddenly cant fit you in their schedule. Congratulations, you’ve become what Orwell called ‘an unperson’.
So, observe how these industries, businesses, agencies, governments, charities, concerns, firms, and groups are all backing away like the Russians were radioactive. But remember, what they do to punish or compel others can just as easily be directed at you or people like you.
It’s probably not a bad idea to keep track of who these players are in this global cancellation project and be ready for them, when the media suddenly announces your designation as an enemy to [whatever] and you find that you no longer have a bank, phone service, a business, etc.
Whether its military hardware, police tactics, political pressure, or the court of public opinion…whatever can be used against others can be used against you. Plan around it….either stay so grey that they never feel the need to shine the light on you, or be resilient enough that when they do it doesn’t make a dent in you. But, regardless, be aware that it can happen.

Correct. It is a challenge to be disconnected from the systems and still have a comfortable western lifestyle. Being a scavenger and living off the grid is a challenge with so much .gov lawfare control features and corporate terms of service requirements. The bots will just hunt you down if you just wanna go live inna woods. Podcasters and Bloggers are next on the menu, too much free thinking disseminated to proles contrary to newsspeak dictums. You may have to pull a bison prepper maneuver and go offline with mail only publishing. Preppers will need to employ dead letter drop spycraft to trade bread making recipes, or partisan style leaflet posting communiques to barter canning supplies. Invest in typewriters / support supplies (non digatal realm) and stationary stocks in anticipation of being de personed and de digatalized. Stay frostiest out there.
Funny i have two US jerry cans, great condition for sale on c-list and no takers, cant sell them. I Lost the donkey dick years ago. The cans are clean, no rust and no takers, the rubber seals need replaced no biggie. Amazing. Cant sell good stuff. I dont put them on e- store as i dont wanna deal with the shipping. Im in a predominantly military area. Amazing.

I’ve found replacement metal spouts at mil surplus stores. I’ve also replaced the rubber rings from online sources. They were stupid expensive for a rubber ring, but did manage to upgrade my metal jerry cans to full function. Sell them if you want, but I’ll never let mine get away.
As for the theme of the post, I try to be the grey man, but I’m sure I’m on many lists, even from semi-anonymous blog commenting like this. I just try to diversify anything that could be electronically cancelled or locked.
The direction the world is going is past the point of concern and into a sort of scary insanity. The thing about ‘Person of Interest’ and other such stories really pale when compared to real life. If the tech and the intel people were good at their jobs, they would have prevented 9/11 BEFORE it happened based on surveillance and simply paying attention. If I did my job like they do theirs I would have been electrocuted long ago.
It took them 10 YEARS to find Osama Bin Laden. It took them 16 YEARS to find Whitey Bulger in an apartment in Santa Monica, and he was well known to the FBI.

The sad part about this entire Russia/Ukraine shitshow is that 90% of what people are hearing and seeing as reported simply is not true. We are living in an age of Smoke & Mirrors, with lies abundant and deception the norm, fact is fiction and fiction is fact, science is not questionable, and fantasy is perceived reality. When you start digging you find just perhaps Putin may be Russias Trump. Trump and Putin are more alike that they are different in their attitudes towards their respective countries.

Bear in mind that the Supreme Ct stated that it is okay to limit hiring of cops to ‘less than bright’ people. So, they have been dumbing down law enforcement since the mid ’90s. There tends to be a distributed wave effect of this sort of policy, and you can be reasonably sure that the feds have been affected by it.
About the same time, IIRC, the Blue Zones started filtering out police applicants that were of the gun culture. So, since they didn’t grow up with guns, they tend to also be terrible shots, and the stats bear this out.
