How to win/lose an election in one easy step

How to lose: New Mexico governor issues order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque

How to win: Sheriff in New Mexico’s most populous county rejects governor’s gun ban, calling it unconstitutional

Just because something is a law does not mean it is good, moral, ethical, or even a smart idea. All it means is that you have to obey it, whether you agree with it or not. Now, if you have a moral objection you can certainly have that opinon but you’re still obligated to follow that law. Which brings us to Heinlein’s great quote:

I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them.

The corollary to this is, of course, that you have to take responsibility for your actions. I break the law a dozen times a day…I cross against the light, I drive a couple miles over the speed limit, I store gasoline in a non-approved containers, etc, etc.

And when I do all those things I do them fully aware of their ‘outlaw’ status and with the full knowledge that there are consequences to my actions and I won’t dispute them at all. I know the ticket price for this particular ride, I am willing to pay it.

This little bit of ‘Irish democracy’ manifests itself all the time. We ignore the rules that we think are stupid, unnecessary, unconstitutional, or just plain bad. Sometimes we can get away with it…like when your AK doesn’t have enough American-made parts to acieve 922(r) compliance….and sometimes we can’t like when that homemade Sten gun goes brrrrrrrrrrrp and the neighbors call the cops.

If I lived in New Mexico, and I was authorized to carry a concealed weapon, I wouldn’t change a single thing about my behavior. I’d continue to be well-heeled and if caught I’d shrug and say “Youre right, I broke the law. Its a dumb law and I disagree with it, but I did it nonetheless.” I’d totally own that.

I’m curious to see how this plays out. It’ll be struck down, of course…no doubt there. But I wonder if the ripples will spread out to have a bigger effect. Stay tuned.

  1. This thing is a typical Marxocrat. She has a fund. Supposed to be for things connected to state business. I recent review of receipts showed she was spending the money on groceries, clothing. And other personal items. Interesting that these Marxocrats always help themselves to money that isn’t theirs. Cooked is as crooked does. She is nowhere near Old Joey Shitty Britches. But the Communists all seem to have that gene that tells them they are entitled to anything and everything that isn’t theirs. Even their terrorists are collectively referred to as the Free Shit Army.

  2. I believe this is a test, Dementia Man (or his handlers) is/are watching to see what the courts say about suspending the Constitution, If she is allowed to get away with it by the courts, expect it to be applied nationwide, I believe this is fully coordinated with the DC cabal. This is a dark and dangerous time for our nation,

    • they don’t care what the courts say. they’ve proven that since obammy ignored ruling after ruling and brandon does the same now. no, they’re watching to see if anybody gets shot in the face over this. we’re failing the test. this will encourage them to go nationwide on this bs.

  3. Too bad the Legislature doesn’t have the stones to impeach her. Doubtful if the people would even recall her.

  4. A law repugnant to the Constitution is null and void ~ Marbury v. Madison. When the governor denied the birthrights of New Mexico citizens under “Color of Law”, she commited a felony and should be prosecuted.

  5. Regardless of what Dems say, they attempt to use the “death by a thousand cuts” approach to chip at the 2nd Amendment–strike, establish the New Normal, and then strike again. Their strategy is why most gun rights-oriented people are unwilling to give an inch to the Left with its so-called “sensible” gun laws proposals.

Even some Dems have spoken out against this Lib governor’s actions. I suspect that at least some of them are outraged because New Mexico’s governor revealed what their ultimate objective is and that, now that it has been revealed, the gun rights part of the population will be even more vigilant, on guard, and resistive to future attacks from the Left.

If the Left’s ultimate strategy wasn’t apparent to all of those “who have not been paying attention” before, the jig is certainly up now.

  6. Anything short of literally shaving the governor’s head with hedge clippers, stripping her to underwear, tarring her head to toe in hot tar, and applying a liberal amount of most of a sack of feathers, and then carrying her to the state line on top of a rail, and deporting her out of NM for life is too mild by half.

Skipping the preliminaries, and going right to the public hanging with steel cable in the plaza outside the capitol building would be an excellent opening gambit, pour encourager les autres.
Installing the first uppity county sheriff who publicly defied her unconstitutional orders into her vacated office would be a great second step.

Middle ground, besieging the governor’s mansion with non-stop gunfire, and interdicting any attempts at relief of the position, until she surrenders, would be salutary as well.

If this were a nation of laws, impeaching her, followed by criminal prosecution for infringing on Constitutional rights of the entire citizenry under color of authority, followed by a stretch of not less than 10 years in prison, is but a misty dream at this point.

But I get the sense that most of NM is about as rebellious as a tomcat after the vet “fixes” it, like about half/two-thirds of the rest of the country.

We’re so whipped as a nation, we’ll be lucky if a court simply nullifies her imperial decree, and people will hold celebratory parties over even that weak sauce.

  7. Maybe just have the Sheriff do his job by honoring his oath and arresting her on a dozen or so charges. Probably only happen when our military arrests Washington D,C, (Congress) for treason.

  8. I’m guessing the Democrat party is making their anti-gun pitch to their party faithful now rather than during the coming 2024 election when anti-gun will become ignored and a non issue. The stakes are too high to get the Conservatives riled up then.

  9. I wouldn’t even calling carrying in Albuquerque against the law…. Just contrary to an unconstitutional order, and disobedience to such is no crime

  10. Land of ENTRAPMENT,
    BACKWARDS, OPEN SOUTHERN BORDER,
DAILY INVASION, HUMAN SMUGGLING, A daily
    💩 show .

  11. As of today. This idiot is getting bitch slapped all over the place. The AG of New Mexico told her ” my office will not defend you”.
A Biden appointed Judge already blocked her Executive Order. Other champion gun grabbers such as Cong Rep Ted Leiu has been critical. As has that triangle headed idiot David Holder Hogg. Me thinks it’s all just for show. Maybe just a dress rehearsal for the real thing. We’ll see. I neither trust these thugs and I’m always on the lookout for ulterior motives.

  12. Not even Beta O’Rourke stepped on his male appendage the way Governor Karen Twatwaffle did

  13. An “Executive Order” is Not ‘law’. Even a “Law” properly passed by a Legislature that contradicts the Constitution is Invalid from the Start. There have been at least two Supreme Court Decisions that explicitly said so. Enforcing this kind of Bullshit only Works if the thugpig enforcers are not Afraid of Return Fire. That was why the Elected Sheriffs, and city po-Lice immediately refused to ‘enforce’ it.

Now we just need them to show that kind of Sense when the petty tyrants try the Masks/Lockdown thing again….

  14. As long as that (D) is next to her name on the Ballot in the General election, she’s got nothing to worry about.
