Glock Redux

Kings Firearms Online was having a sale on some LE trade-in Gen 4 G17’s. Well, heck, for $300 apiece, why not? I prefer Gen3 Glocks for various reasons but these should be quite easy to flip for $350-375 to someone wanting a Christmas gift to themselves or a friend. While I have a big ‘ol stack of Ruger P95DCs sitting around, I have an almost as large pile of Glock 9mms. I’m kinda wishing I’d picked up more than just these three. Theyre in typical copgun condition: bluing wear, grips nicked and scratched from years of being a ghetto referee, but mechanically fine. Face it, copguns just don’t get shot that much. They get banged around a heck of a lot, but mechanically theyre almost always like new.

Its been a long time since I’ve seen police trade-in Glocks in 9mm for sale but when it happens, I try to go deep.

  1. That’s a good deal. Think I’m set for Glock 9’s but my number is a lot lower than yours.

Did pass it on to my homies though. One dude might get one.

  2. ahhhh, your that guy😂.
Ding. Ding. Ding. you Win sir!
I admitt, I am abit jealous being a glock guy.

Good gun to loose to the evidence locker, god forbid!

  3. ex military usually clean their duty weapons more/better than those that haven’t served…some of the duty glocks i’ve seen, holy shit…some officers, especially now, have never owned/shot a gun until they became an officer…they have no clue how to maintain a firearm…scary

    • The US Military wears more weapons out through over cleaning than actual use. Modern firearms do not require cleaning after every use. This change has to do with the simple fact that we do not use corrosive ammunition in the US any longer. If you are a black powder shooter, then cleaning after ever use is required. However, if someone wants to clean their firearm after every use their choice, just not necessary.

      • Truth! I routinely put thousands of rounds through one particular Glock without any cleaning or lubrication and it goes ‘bang’ everytime.

        • But, to be sure, there are certainly those firearms out there that do require a bit more attention than others…some can go a thousand rounds without cleaning, some not so much.

  4. I have a friend who is a reserve police officer in a suburb of Detroit who regularly buys these used cop Glocks and I have to say they are very nice and smoking good deals ( he gets an even bigger discount being a reserve cop in his locale ).

I also know you probably have more Glock “ happy sticks” as you put it than some mid level distributors. I find Glock factory mag prices are hardly ever discounted . Where do you suggest I look for something other than MSRP pricing on Glock factory mags? Especially the 24-33 rd variety.

    • I don’t see much advantage to the Glock happystic versus something like MagPuls 27-rd happystick. The biggest difference I’ve seen is that GLOCK OEM mags function better with steel cased ammo. Probably something to do with the friction coefficients of Glocks polymer versus other brands. However, I usually don’t shoot steel case ammo, and don’t anticipate a situation where steel cased ammo will be all I have, so I don’t worry about it. Having said that, at the moment, my usual vendor RSR is selling them for $28.75 vs $14.15 for the MagPul. I have several hundred of the MagPul and feel 100% confident in them.
