Scenes from the Beta Site

A bit blustery, foggy, and snowy at the Beta Site. Whatever I build there will have to be built with this sort of environ in mind.

As someone pointed out to me, I need to put a yardstick of some kind out there to give me metrics about about how deep the snow is.

  1. Any thing a-frame would work. A box with a steep enough roof. My uncle built one on the edges of Targhee national forest in Idaho. Used plywood on the sides.

Seems like the roof might have been metal as I recall. Still there and was built in 1972 so it has stood for a pretty long while.

    • I’ve been toying with the idea of an A-frame for the ‘dry cabin/storage shed’ initial building. I like the seeming relative ease of construction but the glaring drawback is that the sloping sides really messes with your available storage space. But its definitely on my list of things to look into more.

      • Maybe a modified A frame. Side wall three or four feet tall and the roof on up. Built a few of those and that helps with the side wall problem. Especially if long term it is to be a shed. I’m pretty sure you will build something nice.

  2. Now that you have your little piece of nowhere, don’t forget about this item from a post a few years ago…https://www.bushwinch.com/
