More SBR

Years ago I bought a CZ Scorpion Evo. I shot it a bit, and its a fine little 9mm,  but it’s real value is as a SBR…not as a pistol.

Since tax stamps for SBR’s are $0 these days, it seemed to make sense to just go ahead and do the paperwork. And,,the approval came back today.

  1. CZ, are you submitting your forms on paper?

All I get are emailed PDF’s back.
I’ve sorta fell in love with SBR/pistol cal. and suppressors.
Makes a lot of sense in close quarters.

    • I submit them electronically. I print out the PDF and keep a copy rolled up and stuffed in the pistol grip of the gun ‘just in case’.
As for utility, I am quite surprised at the dramatic handling differences with the shorter barrels. My little BRN-180 SBR is the handiest thing ever, as is the MP5 clone.
FOr a ‘truck gun’ the SBR’s are very nice.

      • They really are. I got an MP5 for nostalgia’s sake (carried one in southern Iraq back in 2006) but there are better options, like the EVO.
The guns that are ALWAYS in my truck are a Glock 17 and a .30-30, as having to shoot a large animal that was hit on the road is a recurring situation…

  2. Zero- Very cool set up. I had the long barreled version but didn’t see the sense in it practically as it weighed as much as an AR rifle and really a pistol caliber long gun. Sold it and now have the Ruger carbine and the MCK chassis system for a G19 which is very handy and truly a backpack gun. With a Romeo2 and a nice light it’s a tight little shooter.

  3. Maybe its just me but having to do a TAX stamp for Zero $ is ridiculous. But its probably telling us that the tax WILL be back and will be a LOT higher after Trump is gone

    • Perhaps. Im more inclined to believe this was a trolling episode. ATFE says ‘you still need tax stamps’ and the administration says ‘okay, but well make them zero dollar’.

  4. I have one of these that I got in 2020 that I got the Innovative Arms integral suppression system for and even though that makes it a 2 stamp gun I do like it.

    • I like it alot. Obviously its got a bit of kick since its a blowback gun, same as the Ruger PC, Uzi, etc, etc. It field strips into something like four parts, is stupid simple, handles well, and is 1/2 the price of an MP5 clone. Magpul makes mags for it, which is a big plus, and they make a drum as well. As an SBR, I think its a fine choice. Plenty of aftermarket accessories and upgrades out there as well. And CZ generally does not make crap, so I think you’d not regret getting one.
