Article – In a 960-square-foot cabin, a homesteader packs away a year’s worth of food by breaking a few pantry rules

An interesting little article and video about storage of large quantities of food.

Fitting a year’s worth of food into a 960-square-foot cabin would be a challenge in almost any setup. That’s why a video from Katie, the content creator behind The Homesteading RD (@thehomesteadingrd), is drawing attention.

In the YouTube video, The Homesteading RD walks viewers through the system she uses to keep a 12-month food supply inside her small cabin. “It’s not easy to store a year’s worth of food in a 960 sq ft cabin,” Katie wrote in the caption.

An interesting little video for those of us who try to keep a large amount of food on hand.

Eventually the Beta Site will have a similar type of storage situation going on. At some point I’d like to have a garden area up there to take advantage of the short growing season, and perhaps a dug-in greenhouse.

It’s one of the unsexiest parts of survivalism, but you eat several times a day…every day..even when it isnt TEOTWAWKI. As a result, its probably a good idea to keep more than a little food on hand.
