PTR-91

Well, a PTR-91 has found its way into my bunker. Since I already had about 40 HK91 mags sitting here it seemed silly not to have a gun when the mags are less than $2 ea. (And before anyone points it out, yes Im aware of Tapco’s ’50 for $50′ deal. Im also aware its sold out.)

Will shoot it this weekend against a genuine HK91. The barrel is heavier on the PTR so perhapsthe stry I was toldof it being mroe accurate thatn the HK91 is true. Im more concerned to see if it’ll share the HK91’s reliability.

  1. I look forward to your evaluation. The PTR-91 has received favorable reviews and it’s pretty affordable when compared to the HK-91. They are, seemingly, always sold out with months backlog.

Now the question is FN or PTR-91 for MBR in .308

  2. Hmmmm….

Here in CT we still have a silly “assault weapon” ban. Yeah, it sucks, but if you need to live in the NYC metro area, CT is a little island of gunny heaven. Just compare it to the surrounding states of NY, NJ, and MA.
Anyway, the HK91 is a banned weapon here. Now, in most cases clones are covered as well, like the ban reads “Avtomat Kalashnikov AK-47 type” so any firearm that uses AK47 parts is also banned. However, when it comes to the section on H&K, the ban is very specific.
    “Heckler & Koch HK-91, HK-93, HK-94 and SP-89”, not HK91 type.
I might have to do a little checking to make sure the PTRs are legal here.

  3. Thanx.

I was really close to getting a new stock with spring assy. before Lucky_fool fixed the guide rod. I’d like to go ahead and replace all the springs and pins.
