‘Tis winter

Hmph…snowed the last two days. I guess it’s winter. Time to pull the Filson outta the closet, round up the boots, and find the knit caps.
=============

Elections came and went, an they went about as I expected. But…I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something is making me uneasy about 2020. I think that I’m going to have to keep my eyes open for some investment guns and accessories.  I have a comfortable supply on hand for myself, but there’s always going to be that contingent of people who never thought ahead and will rush to the stores at the last minute to try and buy an AR or a 30-rd magazine. Those short-sighted fools will be my customer base.  And their penance for shortsightedness will be…well..   as much cash as theyre going to be willing to spend for hideously marked up gun related stuff. In 2020 it’ll have been 16 years since the sunset of the Assault Weapons ban. If you couldn’t get your act together in those 16 years to get your gun needs taken care of, then you deserve to pay $500 for a stripped AR lower. Just sayin’.

  1. Remember a few years back when AR platforms were selling for a few THOUSAND dollars. And they were STILL selling them ! Talk about some buyers remorse now.

    You would be an idiot to not have some spares in your stash though, sooner or later a ban will come and then you will cry. No reason for that.

  2. I’d submit the lctions went quite well, actually. Losing the House is par for the course. And while dems can say anything they like, it was no ‘wave’.
    More importantly, boosting the senate virtually guarantees DJT gets to flood the judiciary with whomever he likes. I note that Ginsburg’s yoga routines have been cancelled until further notice.

    2020 is light years away, of course, but I think every passing week brings more and more minorities into the DJT camp. If the dems squander their entire political capital with continuing absurd “investigations” & reminding all men how much they hate them, I’d say DJT’s chances are pretty darn good.

  3. ‘Tis winter… You sure got that tight. It snowed here most of the afternoon but the pavement was warm enough that the flakes melted on impact.

    You may be onto something in your feelings about things to come. Looks like we are in the final stages before the economy slows down. It’s not because of any one thing, it’s part of the business cycle. Sadly when the stimulus ends in 2019/2020 the economy will drop a little further than it should, but we shall overcome.

  4. I work a fair number of local guns shows, I’ve seen the results of people who bet on the election and were wrong.

    Having said that, I too have uneasy feelings about this election and the upcoming ones. Especially for gun owners. I have several items that I have bought extras of. These could realize a profit if things go sideways again.

    I’ve talked with plenty of people who are uneasy about events but unwilling to stop their pursuit of today and plan for tomorrow. I have lost my sense of compassion for these people. Come hard times they will be left to their own resources, and pay the current price.
