Addiction

So this happened today…….

I know, I know.

And before some well-meaning person posts it in the comments, No, I wouldn’t offer this to the neighbor girl. DA/SA autos arent really a beginners gun. If I were interested in offering her a boomtoy, which Im not, it’d be a Glock, M&P40, or an XD.. basically, a reliable point-n-shoot. The notion that revolvers are the best choice for the I-just-want-a-gun-to-keep-on-the-nightstand crowds (especially chicks) is just silly. Someone who has no interest in becoming a ‘gun person’ isn’t going to do terribly well with a DA revolver (the classic .38) with its long heavy trigger pull. Good, solid, DA revolver shooting takes practice. A good bit of practice.

And to stem the inevitable “My wife/girlfriend/daughter shoots a Beretta 92 and thats a DA/SA and she shoots it quite well!”, yeah, but Im talking generalizations here.

This is Ruger 9mm pistol number..ah.well…its up there in the double digits. But..$200 including shipping. Came without a magazine but thats not a problem these days.

  1. I never seem to find the deals on those Ruger’s. I did buy a Star BM for $200 last week though…

  2. First off, Merry Christmas all!

Pssst, I got a few rugers for sale… lol!
Don’t they always say a gun safe is too small the day you buy it? Just curious how is that “watergun” Hi-Power rebuild…that was very interesting!

    Stay safe!

    • That is literally what happened when i got this safe i currently use – within an hour of getting it delivered it was already full to the gills.

  3. Guns are evil….for the bank account. I innocently went online to buy some more 5.56 ammo a week or so back. Found the deal I wanted and ordered it. I noticed some other deals. A couple days later, got some more (of a different type of ammo). Next day, got a new upper and stock. Then a few hours after that, found a spectacular deal on some mags.

I then started looking at some optics….and decided I needed to back away from the keyboard. 🙂

  4. My wife shoots a Beretta 92 and thats a DA/SA and she shoots it quite well sir!
    I could help it
I been buying ruger sr9 pistols for around 250 lately. Good and accurate too. Slim and concealable and holds 17 rounds

    Great website sir

  5. ‘…hello, my name is Commander Zero and I am a Ruger P-series junkie…’

    Hi Commander Zero!

  6. When you think you have to many. In reality when the excrement begins to fly you suddenly understand you don’t have near enough. Liberty makes a nice safe. Fatboy. Holds 64 long guns.

      • Cut a sheet of 1″ (or larger) plywood for the floor, as large as you can fit, to spread the load as wide as possible. The more joists you can engage the better. If there is a support wall somewhere under the room’s floor, try to position it over it, or as close as possible. Cut a bevel on the edges to lessen the tripping hazard.
Resist the temptation to locate a waterbed in the same room. 😀

  7. Maybe what your neighbor needs as far as firearms goes is a simple break open 20 or .410 gauge hammered shotgun. H&R Pardner = Savage 94 or even a Rossi – that ilk. Really simple to understand how it works. Supplying any firearm might give the lender some liabilities though.

That 9mm Ruger herd just keeps on increasing . . .

  8. Unless fire protection is a high priority for you, you probably don’t need a new safe. It would be more cost-effective to just build a secure section of your basement or ground floor. You can build a “cage” within a windowless room, and have a swing-out solid-core wooden or metal door with good solid locks. You can climate control a small space fairly easily.

The additional space would allow you to secure other valuable content along with the firearms. The room could also serve as a panic room and storm shelter.

    • I was thinking the same thing, build a vault. Get a welder to fabricate and install or use filled and rebared blocks and security door

  9. Look at the curve on that trigger.

As Kurt Schlicter would say “buy more guns and ammo, the left hates you and wants you dead”.

Great time of year to hide a new pistol in the Christmas budget, “Look honey I got you a new gun”.

  10. Tam’s 2k round count on the P-series is getting interesting. It really gives justice to the P-series being built like a tank for the apocalypse.

    • Im not sure about that. Assuming good quality ammo, and a pistol from a reasonably well-regarded manufacturer (Ruger, Sig, Glock, etc.) it seems like 100% performance is the norm. Also, that P89 is probably 20 years old which means it’s probably been shot enough times that it is well ‘broken in’ (and if not, it certainly will be after this). I keep nagging her to do the test with a HiPoint, but nothing ever comes of it. The ammo would cost more than the gun……..

  11. I work at a large gun shop in Spokane. Yesterday a fella came in who was quite evangelical about P-series Rugers. Wanted mags for his P-95. We didn’t have any. I told him about a guy I knew of who seems to buy up all he encounters. He wants you to leave some for him.
