That Tapco deal

Sadly, will not come to pass. While I was able to get a good deal on the mags themselves, the vendor wanted, and I kid you not, $314 to ship. Now, I ship stuff for a living so I know how much it costs to ship things and it does not cost that much to ship a couple hundred plastic magazines across the US. So, with the shipping charges wiping out any gains from the discounted mags, it’s pretty much a non-starter. But….I’ll keep my eyes open.

  1. Good for you and calling their bluff zero! What a joke. I smell a road trip coming up possibly?

  2. Thanks for trying. I’ll still be onboard if it works out later. Please continue looking for deals.

  3. Reminds me of some offers on eBay where the item is ridiculously under priced with insane shipping costs. There must be quite a few stupid people out there that don’t calculate the total cost and realize that it’s a bad deal and get burned. Sorry it didn’t work out.

  4. Good call on your part Cdr. Z. Sounds like the sales guy, was trying to pad the shipping costs to make up for the reduced sale price. Not very smart on their end as they’ve lost a sale. Greed sometimes makes people do silly things.

  5. I’ve been getting hosed on shipping too, although on a much smaller scale. Guess it’s a sign of the times. Been a little busy this weekend and am behind on computer things but am catching up.

    • The cost of logistics has skyrocketed lately. A big contributing factor is new regulations on long haul truckers, severely reducing the hours they are allowed to spend on the road each day. In effect, this significantly reduces the supply of trucks.

You may have noticed Amazon no longer guarantees 2 day shipping for Prime members.

  6. Is it possible to arrange your own shipping? Have UPS show up for you instead of them doing it? Just need them to toss the stuff into appropriate sized box(es). Maybe have an Uber show up at their willcall desk to run them down to the Post Office?
I would think there are state regs defining this sort of thing as unapproved.
I wonder if upper management is aware of this sort of sleight-of-hand?
