Buy now…just in case

The democrats continue to cannibalize their reputation, but it is not out of the realm of possibility that one of those clowns could wind up being President. Although Beto “Hell yes we’re coming to take your guns” O’Rourke is no longer a viable candidate, his attitude marches on.

And, amazingly, there are still people who actually say things like “We don’t have anything to worry about with Trump in office” in regards to gun control prohibition. Why rely on the whims of other people when you could simply remove all the variables from the equation and get your stuff now so these sorts of issues become moot?

If I’m wrong, so what? It means you have guns and ammo that you would have eventually bought anyway. But if I’m right….we go back to $100 Glock magazines, $1900 M4geries, bare muzzles, and ten round magazines.

When the Clinton Assault Weapons Ban sunsetted in 2004 there were a lot of people who swore they’d never get caught unprepared for that sort of thing again. I suspect not many walked it as they talked it. It’s been 15 years since that expiration and for many of you that’s almost one-half to on-third of your lifetime…thats a long time to get ready. Did you? If not, perhaps it’s time to rethink your plans for that tax refund. Or it might be time to put off buying that jet ski.

Personally, I’m okay. I’ll always want more, but if they passed a law tomorrow I think I’d feel fairly okay with what I already have.

The panic buying comes in waves, guys. First wave starts a little before Election Day. Shop now while prices are down and availability is up. And don’t count on crazy bargains if Trump gets re-elected because manufacturers went into overdrive cranking stuff out in anticipation of a Democrat victory….they aren’t going to make that mistake again, assuming they survived it the first time.

Bargains are still out there. Shop wise, shop smart, but….do shop.

    • The only time you have too much ammo, is when you’re swimming or on fire.

I agree with the commander though. I was thinking of the future back in the early ‘90’s when I started buying. Now I don’t really need to worry much in that area of supplies.
Didn’t need to starve myself, just saved, bought. Saved, bought.
      Lather, rinse repeat.

    • I think the issue is balance and allocation of limited resources. Having too much guns/ mags/ ammo isn’t the problem. Not putting those resources elsewhere is the problem.

I’ve yet to have a gun related emergency where a handgun and a cheap Moss/ Rem/ Win short barreled shotgun weren’t sufficient. Conversely there are quite a few times I’ve needed to pull $500 or a grand from savings.

      • Truth spoken there, a roll of $$$ has pulled off some miracles. Especially when its a ‘Here and Now’ deal, its lowered the price considerably when offered.

  1. Despite the latest NRA rag claiming Trump will rabidly defend ALL of your gun rights, Trump is not a gun owner’s friend. He is a NYC raised born with a silver spoon in this mouth gazillionaire that has never worked a day in his life. He is of that culture that hires his guns and doesn’t give 2 turds for the little guys. The only reason I voted for him is that he is Parsecs ahead of the alternative.

Bump stocks? Well, that’s not a gun so we can ban them (I know, I know, I think theyre stupid too).
Nationwide CCW reciprocity? Let not mention that after the election.
Suppressors? Lets just sweep that under the rug and let it die quietly.

What scares me to death is what Trump might do after he wins reelection (and he will) and is a lame duck. His true upbringing may come out. And right there is another reason to stock up while prices are historically low.

    • Democrat house killed both of these bills, not Trump!
      Nationwide CCW reciprocity?
      Suppressors?

“What scares me to death is what Trump might do after he wins reelection (and he will) and is a lame duck. His true upbringing may come out.”

Really? Sound like you’re just re-posting Democrat talking points!

It’s clear by your overall posting that you’re a never-Trumper or a Democrat. Trump beats whatever WILL come with a Communist/Marxist Democrat hands down. For the record I was a Ted Cruz supporter in 2016, but I’m now behind Trump 100 percent.
The threat to this country and our Constitution from this new Communist movement is to great to be ignore.

      • 3rd, youre a ………… well, I don’t want this deleted. I promise you that I am to the far right of you politically. Period. Think Genghis Khan type methods of dealing with my enemies except that I don’t want to go to jail.

never Trumper (whatever that is)? Did you not read that I voted for him? (+inferred that I would be doing so again….and I will). Try again, Or better yet, cruise thru some of my comments on previous CZ postings. I don’t recall you commenting before, so you may actually be the troll.

And the Rhinos STARTED Trumps term with both the house and senate. That makes all 3 branches that did Diddly for gun owners for 2 years.
        ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

NONE of these national-level politicians are your friends. But some ARE better than others. Those are the ones I vote for on the very slim chance that elections aren’t rigged.

And quit your name calling divisiveness. I feel shame that you dragged me down to it.

        • You made one statement that you voted for him, but spent the rest of the time trash talking him.

The fact he’s from NY is irrelevant. I might remind you our host, Zero lived in NY before he relocated to his current location. Being from NY or CA doesn’t automatically make you bad.

If you don’t like politicians in general than state that!!! I don’t agree 100 percent with anyone. Using your logic would mean I should not vote at all. There will never be a perfect person, that isn’t ourselves!.

You talk about name call, but you call me a troll. As far as pass postings, Zero can validate that. If I’m nothing I’m consistent on my views.

In closing everything you stated about Trump is unproven and nothing but an opinion by you, and not fact based. I will judge Trump and others on their actual actions not on someone’s unsupported opinions.

        • Trump has accomplished quite a lot for having NO help from his own party until just recently, and even then, not very much. It remains to be seen what he will do about red-flag laws and other restrictions on the 2nd Amendment, but we will see soon- after the election. I am betting that he will be on our side, but I am keeping my eyes open and buying what I can to protect my family and me.

          • President Trump has already made it clear he approves of “Red Flag Laws” and wants them at a federal level. He is unreliable in his lack of stands for most anything that is not his personal dalliance of the minute. He has not even really avenged himself on those who threaten the World much less the country.

    • Don Jr. IS a serious gun guy. He has his father’s ear. If Republicans can take the House back, I expect the HPA and reciprocity will be back in play. Both of which were quashed by Dems, not the President.

      • Roger – is that you?

I seem to recall that Trump had/has a NYC carry license. I believe that he strongly supports the 2A and has to play the compromise game to get anything done. I think that bump stocks are dangerous and don’t want to be at a range when an idiot on the line is using one. Given the political environment that we are in, I don’t think Trump has ‘done us wrong’.

  2. Local GS last weekend… I attend them the same reason I don’t drive past most “good” gun stores (not cheap popular crap, good service, knowledgeable). Can’t find that bargain if you don’t stop and look. Found some SIG overrun contract M4 barrels for $70, some Magpul furniture (lightly used) for $30 and I cast an eye over the pile of PMAG Gen2 mags, still in retail plastic. “I gotta ask… how much for your Pmags?” “I’m asking $10 each but if you take ’em all… $9 each.” I took ’em all, closest price point at that show was $12 each.

Did I make the deals of the century? No, but I have more mags than I did, and still in retail wrappers if I want to turn a profit in September, plus some parts I’d been meaning to get anyways.

Now if I can just get the price down on those D-60 and D-50 mags…

  3. ‘Jet Ski’. Hmmmm…..could I mount a belt fed on one? Water Dragoons. Be a big hit at the lake!😉

  4. Commander:
Have you ANY idea how lucky Americans are?
Imagine you decided you wanted a group of selective-fire rifles and some full-auto MG’s.
You would have to find a dealer who was not an agent of an alphabet agency.
Someone who would sell to you without using the items to rob or kill you.

    Now.
Imagine having to go through all this for a simple 22 lr Squirrel gun or a Single-Shot 12 Gage fowling piece.
    That is Britain.
You can TRY for a firearm Licence but money or need won’t matter.
    Politics rule.
You don’t know when you have it good!

I wish WE had YOUR problems….

  5. Just to add. Don’t only get the things you can use right now. Think about the future. I loved shooting the 357 and 10mm. For years. Then went down to a 40 due to old fingers/hands/wrist hurting too much. Then down to 9mm due to older fingers/hands/wrist hurting too much. Now, heading to a 380 due to oldest fingers/hands/wrist still hurting. I guess a .22 will be up next. Point is you won’t be young forever, so also prepare for when ( IF you make it way things are going) you get too old to run and gun. I love my Glocks and my Rugers, but if I can’t hold them well what good are they? I would scoff at the Bersa Thunder buyers. Now, not so much. It works well for me. And don’t forget to buy reading glasses in increasing strength. Can’t hit what you can’t see.

    • I love my Lee-Enfield, but even loading down to Red Dot powder and pistol bullet, there is the weight issue ( to come. I’m 55 but going down hill fast despite diet and exercise ). I went ahead and invested in an AR arsenal ( I don’t particularly care for the gun, but…). First for the Red Flag BS, for the cheapest way to bury multiples, then for the Standard Militia Gun ( try getting spare parts for a SMLE now ), but also soon because I might need the lower weight and recoil, due to age. Take nothing for granted gun-wise, anymore

  6. Trump is the best we have had for a long time
I don’t see any reason to not trust him with the 2 Nd!!

  7. Wow! Bashing Trump now? I was a “Never Trumper” in 2016… didn’t vote for him and never planned to. 3+ years later and I’ve got to say he has EARNED my vote. He has fought socialist democrats, he has fought republicans, and he has fought the deep state.

You don’t have to like him… I still don’t like him, but he HAS earned some respect and my vote.

The younger two still need their ARs, and a few more magazines. I don’t think Election Day will arrive before that happens.

  8. Before our time FDR had his fire side chats. Now President Trump has Face book and Twitter. It is the Technology of the day. This is what youth listen to today. May be it is not our thing but there it is. Books and the written word are going away to be replaced by computers. Cursive writing is not even taught in school. The same as telling the time with a clock. Get with or get left behind. All I can say is, may God bless our founding fathers for our constitution. If we can keep it! I will surely have Trump over Hillary. He is not perfect but I will keep him. We will be lost with a communist in the White House. Decide for yourself. Trump may be a horse’s back side but he is Our horse’s back side.

  9. Speaking of stocking up, does anyone have a good source for CZ scorpion magazines? Hit or miss around me.

  10. The best thing Mr. Trump can do for the 2nd is to put another original Constitutionalist who knows what “shall not be infringed” means on the Supreme Court. I pray daily that they will, at some point before Virginia goes all-out civil war, declare ALL anti-gun legislation to be unconstitutional, which, of course, it is. “We shall not comply” can only carry you so far before you have to back up your position with more than words.

  11. It is amazing how stupid and pointless internet conversations get once Trump gets mentioned, positively or negatively or just in passing. Good post. Guns and ammunition are the most likely things you’ll need desperately and immediately, but also likely to get legislated off the store shelves. Your “ not available at any price” posts come to mind.

  12. Over the years I have purchased a few mags here and a few there. Nothing drastic, $200 here and there. Over time it really adds up.

Also I’m younger than average for this group and have had 15 ish years as an economic adult to work on it. So my sympathy level for the guy older than me who freaks out realizing he has 2 mags for his AR is going to be low. A good place for guys like Zero to sell mags for $50 a pop.

    • Unfortunately by that time that 50 bucks will maybe buy you a half glass of water. I believe our host prefers to sell his mags for coeds and now perhaps MILFs He is getting kinda old after all.

        • Well, getting old sure beats the alternative, does it not? And besides, in my experience, a Coed just kinda “does it”, but a MILF KNOWS what you want and most are happy to provide!

  13. Scoff at me if you like but I’m at the point where I can honestly say I think I have enough steel, brass, and lead to meet any foreseeable operational requirement within my lifetime. I’ve turned my attention to other focuses such as refining long term sustainment of health, vehicles, household systems, electrical generation etc. Not exciting stuff like bangsticks, survival food, and gear but absolutely vital in the long run. “Logistics wins the war”. Prepping for a long haul in Purgatorio….

    Regards

  14. Standard calibers….22, .38, 9 mm, .45, .357, 55.6, .308
Sure, there’s always someone who could suggest others.
There could very well be a worth while use for it too…but,
I encourage all to double duty, and even triple duty, calibers
in their firearm choices. That streamlines the ammo inventory.
One could also streamline spare parts inventory with duplicated
arms. Staying with standardized ammo and firearms, even should
events get drawn out, parts, pieces, and ammo, could become
battlefield resupply. Think of your enemy as mobile re-supply mules.
Sadly, there won’t be enough “Moose” to go around…but that can be
a good thing, for Our Republic.

  15. How many of you have at least one good holster for a handgun that could be carried concealed, and perhaps also an open carry version? Got holsters for more than one? Have one for your weak hand? (Hurt your primary hand, how are you going to carry during the healing phase?)

Have you used your holsters enough to determine if they work for you, or do you have just one, still new in the package, just in case you might need it?

Do the females in your life also have a holster and gun that they can wear? If you think selecting a holster for you is a pain, check with the girls on this subject, and discover how much it sucks for them. Hint: shoulder rigs tend to be a good default/fallback choice for them, unless you live in Miami or similar, maybe.

Too many gunowners tell me they’ll just stick it in a pocket or their waistband. They can’t be bothered with even thinking about it, yet they bought a handgun sized to carry. WTF?
