Countdown to November

The election is almost two months away. Ah, how it seems like only yesterday we were watching Hillary admit that, once again, her ‘turn’ would be denied to her…again. Good times, good times.

You know, one of the things we used to pride ourselves on as a nation was that, unlike many other countries, when our government changed hands it was usually not accompanied by civil disturbances and gunfire. Funny how times change.

It’s a safe bet that no matter who wins, there’s going to be some ugliness. And, whoever doesn’t win will see their ‘side’ even more energized, galvanized, incentivized, and polarized than before.

Whats going to happen in two months and a couple days? Beats me. But I’d expect that there’s going to be a bit more of these ‘demonstrations’/’rallys’ where someone initiates a bullet party and the hand-wringing reaches epic levels.

Hats and bats. The latest in election year fashions.

This is about the point in the post where I’d say something like “Be ready for some sort of civil disorder”, “Get your magazines and AR lowers now”, or “Be ready for the market to drop like a rock”. But, I’m not going to say that. Honestly, if you haven’t come to those conclusions on your own by now you probably deserve whats going to happen to you. The greatest likelihood is that there will be a few ‘demonstrations’ cough*riots*cough with a few severe beatings and deaths, the market will yo-yo a bit, and you still won’t be able to buy .223 with a handful of hundred dollar bills. That’s the likely outcome. But, as survivalists, we try to prepare for the alternative outcomes. Only you know what you need to do between now and November; go out and do it.

  1. Great thoughts. Election is barely over 2 months away – it’ll come quick. Buy the canned good, pasta & TP now while stores are stocked. Trucks make not come to your area if/when there’s chaos.

  2. Body armor. And doing everything possible so you can pick and choose where and when to go out… or choose to stay in entirely.

The stories of attacks by random people in ordinary settings are becoming more common, and are likely to increase. Attacks by non-random people for non-random reasons are increasing too.

However you slice it, there are more attacks on ordinary people doing their ordinary business. Up your game appropriately.

    • Seeing all these reports of the rioters wearing body armor makes me feel like we may have a push for laws banning it… Especially from the Republicans since it’s the antifa crowd showing up wearing it. Definitely glad I bought that stuff years ago.

  3. Amen! If you haven’t seen it coming for quite some time you haven’t been paying attention. If for no other reason than an election cycle where ammo and guns become scarce. Now throw everything else in there…

  4. Last month’s activity was rounding out the small bits of personal protection that I just never really got around too… pepper spray in the trucks, new panels in the concealed soft armor…

This month’s paychecks are going to fixing the gear that has been gathering “roundtoits” for a few years… stuff that needed to go back to a repair facility, but I was just too lazy to package it and mail it. Yea, I shoulda/coulda and that falls on me if the stuff doesn’t get here before Nov… but it is in the pipeline for before January.

People at work think I’m joking when I say that on Nov 4th I’ll refuse transfers to the Big Cities… my rig got caught in downtown Chattanooga during a protest this summer, not doing that again. Told my partner and our patient that if they felt a sudden acceleration and heard the siren, to not mind the bangs on the sheet metal or the speed bumps I was going over.

“May you live in interesting times”

  5. Whenever a hurricane is barreling down on Florida, the news is filled with frantic shoppers looking for plywood and generators at Home Depot or Lowe’s. I shake my head and wonder, once again, how stupid some people are. “50% of people were in the bottom half of their class,” and I suppose that they are all shopping at Home Depot when a hurricane’s on the way.
If people haven’t “gotten religion” now about the possibility of serious disturbances after the election–if not sooner–and the disruptions to the economy that will follow, I doubt that there is anything that can be said that will cause them to do so.
Neither side will accept the results of the election, especially if there is even a whiff of voter fraud–and how can there not be? Universal mail-in balloting is ripe for fraud, and it will almost certainly be in favor of Democrats if history is any guide.
Even without any allegations of fraud, the Left’s hair will be on fire if Donald Trump is re-elected, making what happened after November 2016 appear to be mild. “Not my president!” The violence we have seen in the last couple of months will be viewed as a minor altercation by comparison to what happens after Trump’s re-election.

  6. There has always been voter fraud and there probably always will be.
People being people, cheating is a way of life.

Now that the whole voting process is computerized our political process is at the whim of a lone hacker living in his mom’s basement. The Russian hackers can make a computer get up on it’s hind legs and bark at the moon while draining bank accounts at the same time.

The big question is what to do about it? Get out and campaign/work/volunteer/donate to your candidate and hope they are less of a crook than the other one. One would hope America, despite our disagreements, would be on the same team pulling for victory. Apparently that will never happen.

We love to hate anyone who disagrees with our point of view.

  7. Well this isn’t the time for price gouging in ammo prices. Got a “sale” cough, cough, gag, hack. Cheaper than Dirt should change their name to ” Expensive as Hell”.
Tulammo 9mm that AIM was selling last fall for $154.99 with shipping per thousand is at $49.99 per box of 50. Twenty five rounds of 10mm S&W auto Critical Defense by Hornady is priced at $54.99. Fiocchi can’t get that new ammo plant online fast enough.

    • Cheaper than Dirt has a long sordid history of gouging, especially in the wake of mass shootings. F them.

I got an eflyer that I should “STOCK UP ON AMMO” but when I went there, you were limited to 3 boxes of 20 in 556…. yep, 60 rounds. AND it was almost $1/ rd. Lucky Gunner and others have done the same thing. Some folks still have 762 in stock at about 30c /rd. Steel Tula, but you can fill some mags. Great argument for having both AK and AR, or at least uppers for both.

      n

      • I have two AK 47s. Lime the bigger bullet. And until recently you can get the 75 rd drum. Now they are available for most mil spec type rifles. I do need a few ARs. Maybe here soon. I have a nice Yugo SKS. Got a few thousand on stripper clips for that.
Hard to believe that with all the manufacturer’s making ARs that the stock was cleaned out so fast. Hell. Even Colt has started making and selling AR15s to the general public again. Saw that in Firearms News recent issue.

  8. I completely agree it will be an cluster of a November and no doubt roll into the next few months after that, you can not be prepared enough. If we are lucky we will have one hell of a nasty winter and force many rioters to stay home but I doubt it. 2020 will go out with a literal bang.
