Wheat in the chaff..or..still deals to be had

Ok, so after being rather disappointed over a lovely PTRGI on ArmsList that was basically cheese in a trap, I went back to the well for another sip.

  • S&W M&P-15, new in box (And, indeed, the bolt face and inside of the receiver supports that)
  • Magpul BUIS
  • 360 rounds of assorted ammo..some steel, some brass, some match
  • (4) 30-rd Pmags and a cute 40-rd Pmag
  • and…..no paperwork. A free-range AR.

The punchline? $650. In the current market I’m factoring the ammo at $0.40/rd and the mags at $10. So $194 for the accessories That makes my allocated basis for the gun about $450~… but the no paperwork part? That has an intangible value. This ias pretty much the exact sort of deal a paranoid survivalist like myself wants – new guun, reasonable manufacturer, accessories, ammo, decent price, no paper trail. 10/10.

And, since TPIWWP….

Do not be lonely, little AR….your brethren are coming soon……very soon….

  1. 1. Buy yourself an off the books AR-15
    2. Make a post about it on your blog
    3. …
    3. Profit? Anyone? Bueller?

    • Unless you can actually read the serial number off the rifle, I’m not sure where the problem is.

  2. Sweet deal. Among my circle, we factor about 100 into a no paper deal. Prob a tad more now, and may be a great deal more soon.

Any RKI know if Magpul ever fixed the drift problem with their plastic BUIS?

    • I would guess that if youre using a plastic BUIS then your primary optic has gone down and whatever you need to shoot is going to be close enough that a little drift is probably a non-issue. Its the…bargain minded…who use plastic Magpul sights as their primary sights that are, I think, going to have problems.

      • Hey i get saving some $$ and agree. I love Magpul as a company and wish them great things in all endeavors. It was just so long ago the issue came up that i figured that they had solved the problem. I hope that someone can tell me that they did.

And i didnt/dont take you as someone who would ‘settle’. Even for a backup. Maybe good enough for the long sleep tho cause if it gets that far…. Or handouts to buddies who got to safety with only the clothes on their backs.

    • Yup. I also factor in about a Benjamin for lonely unpapered orphans.
It’s good to have money set aside.

  3. Great find Commander! I work in a gun shop and we were selling the rifle alone for 650 before the stupidity hit.

  4. Very nice find and it’s great you could capitalize on it. Up here we can’t legally get any more AR platform rifles. The boy who would be Prime Minister, through an Order-in-counsel, made them all prohibited. Unlike other countries like New Zealand where this was done in the open, our Child PM did it behind closed doors.

Trudeau has also promised a buyback, but the 15 management firms they asked to submit tenders to oversee the program all declined. The main reason given was that the program was underfunded and too unwieldy to work. Meanwhile, a lot of friends who have guns on the list are putting them away with cleaning kits and ammo. The new motto of firearms owners up here is “Come and find it.”

  5. Not trying to be a shill for PSA, but they have 762×51 in stock in case quantity today. I was able to actually add a case of 500 to my cart for $450. I don’t buy x51, so IDK how bad that price is, but last week’s price on x39 was good for current conditions.

They’ve got some pistols and black rifles in stock too, and the pistols are very reasonably priced.

Click on their Daily Deals button.

In my local estate auctions, stuff is going for crazy high prices, ammo and guns both. They are all taxed and papered sales too.

    • Perhaps. Also possible these days to be ‘red-flagged’ anonymously by some marxist malcontent. I’d like to be postured to say nothing & sit quietly while the deputies violate my 4th amendment “rights”.

  6. Found a guy selling a Glock 21 that had a badly pitted slide(most likely exposed to water and not taken care of) for $150….had the slide sand blasted and re coated for $75….so I have a private sale pistol for $225…. not a bad deal either….there are deals to be had!!

    • Send the slide back to Glock and they will probably send you a replacement slide. Obviously call first.
