Mitigation

Nothing really changes until January 20 so think of it like getting three months warning that a meteor is going to hit the planet, or that a Category 12 hurricane is going to hit. You’ve got three months to try and get whatever it is that you think you won’t be able to get later down the line.

The nice thing about being a pessimist is that, worst case, things go exactly as you planned for. Thus, for me, I really don’t need to do anything…I’m just gilding the lily at this point.

As Kosh said, once the avalanche has started it is too late for the pebbles to vote. Or, to carry it in a different direction, you can’t change the fact that the meteor is going to hit in three months…what you can do is prepare for the consequences of that hit. In other words, stop bellyaching about the election and refocus on mitigating the results of it. While you’re frantically and self-righteously pounding your keyboard about election fraud, watermarked ballots, and more-votes-than-voters, the people who have moved past that are scooping up the things that you should be buying while you still can.

Predictions? Same as I’ve been saying since pretty much I turned on the lights and flipped the OPEN sign on this blog: mags, ARs, mags, ammo, mags, armour, mags, cryptogrpahy, mags, radio gear, mags, paperless guns, mags. I’ve also predicted that the markets are going to tumble on a Biden win…we’ll see how Monday goes.

Honestly, you should already have been at a point of resiliency in your life where the victor in this contest would have been irrelevant to you. Money in the bank, metals in the safe, guns on the wall, food in the basement, no debt in sight, ammo on the shelf, fuel in the tank, meds in the cabinet… you get all that squared away and it really won’t matter who wins the election.

Basement goals

  1. …When the ship is sinking, you can either watch the water rise around you, or you can look for a lifeboat…

  2. We wondered what the markets were thinking Wednesday and Thursday – we were up over 7% in those two days alone. The previous week we’d discussed pulling out, but had decided to let it ride. Glad we did.

Friday we discussed again, and pulled everything out. EVERYTHING. And we were up .9% that day as well.

Next week will be interesting indeed. We’re assuming a crash as the markets take in the uncertainty. But who knows? People aren’t rational, markets aren’t rational. We made bank on the COVID crash in February/March, but our timing wasn’t perfect. This time? We will see.

Of course, financials pale in comparison to the shit our kids will have to deal with in terms of a fight for liberty. Thank God they’re all aware of the dangers represented by the FSA.

    • The market is because they see the Senate remaining Republican. If they lose the run offs in Georgia , than that’s when we will see the market tumble. That is why Zero’s advise is correct about using this time wisely, because there will be a point that it’s to late!!!

  3. Election: It’s not loosing that bothers me, it’s how.

Plans: Same as before, except we are looking for a slightly bigger house (need more storage space).

Future: Historically, the Dems/Libs eat their own.

    • Future: Historically, the Dems/Libs eat their own.

Yeah after they slaughter off the focus of their rages.

AOC and Co are already bragging about finding, fixing and F88king all Trump Supporters as well as give maps and contact information of Trump donators to their half crazy peoples for reeducation.

      Mitigate that friend, Mitigate that.

Voles are grey little field mouse’s that destroy all a gardeners efforts hidden from view.

  4. I’ve been more or less preparing for this since the end of the Clinton AWB.

Made a couple of pre election purchases in the last year. When it became apparent President Elect Biden was going to clench it (yesterday morning) I ordered an extra 10 each rifle and pistol mags.

Within financial/ logistical constraints I’ve done what I can do to prepare. There is always something else I’ll want, one more gun, one more mag order. However I’m at the point where I am reasonably provisioned. No point worrying about what I can’t do.

  5. Going just by volume I have way fewer things than most American’s in my demographic.* But, I have what I need. I’ve had it covered for years and actually sold off and gave away a few things this year. The occasional thing I do pickup these days is more of a lifestyle/I think it’s cool kinda thing.

*Having zero debt, renting, and being able to fit everything you own in a 10’ Uhaul truck is both my preferred way of living and a survival strategy for me. 😊

  6. While I am prepared basically as well as I need to be from a personal standpoint that doesn’t take away the problems my grandkids will have to face. At my age 72 and in great health, I farm and do physical work daily, nothing they come up with will make a great difference to me . If they physically come after me it won’t end well for any of us. My main 2 issues are not so much losing, if the call stands, but how they changed the rules and added time to the clock while the game was being played and the main one is how the country supported the evil Socialist Liberal proposals to the extent they did. As a country we have tipped over the edge and Trump nor anyone else can turn back that slide in 4 years it has taken 50 + years to get here and without a total reset of our leadership it will not turn back period.

  7. futures are holding, so’s the dollar, but i don’t see how. my conundrum is: if they get a ban passed, without a grandfather clause b/c that’s how they roll, mere possession will be a felony. won’t all my toys be worthless?

    • Like any other investment, the gain or loss isnt realized until you sell them. Until you try to sell one, it still has value as a boomstick where freedom seeds come flying out the end.

    • Not to say the next ban would lack a grandfather clause, but the AWB that the Democrats have introduced every year since 2004 does have one, however, there is no sunset and it would be a permanent ban. The addition of a grandfather clause maybe the only way they(Democrats) see it surviving a Supreme Court challenge.

Also remember, each state would also have to pass a law that reflects any federal AWB for it to be enforceable by local law enforcement. Local LE can not enforce federal laws, with the exception for a very small percentage of local officers that are carried as federal TFOs.

  8. I’ve been gobbling up g22 gen4s and stripped lowers for so long the lgs gives me a call whenever they come in lol….

Actually found a g22 gen5 out in the wild 2 weeks ago that I bought up too.

    • Remember the AWB never banned pistols it was only the magazines above 10 rounds for said pistols.

      • “Remember the AWB never banned pistols”
So what? That would have no bearing on a new AWB since it seems rather unlikely a new AWB will simply be a rehash of the old one with a new date at the top of the page.
Its like the people who think that youre protected from having your gold confiscated if its in the form of collectible coins because those were exempt in 1934…as if somehow a new law is not going to be different than the old one.

        • As to pistols –
1- Import stuff has been an issue. That’s how we got the PPKs and probably, though I can’t specifically recall, some other oddities.

2- I think the rise of AR/AK/ etc pistols will lead to them being targeted. Length and weight provision a would probably be the easiest ways to do it.

          • I foresee a quick smackdown of ‘wrist braces’ and the 14″ ‘not-a-shotgun’s. Possibly a change from ‘80% lowers’ to ‘50% lowers’ to something else.

          • The import ban can be done completely by Executive Order.
“Remember the AWB never banned pistols”
            So what?
The “So what?” was in direct response to Jim K.’s comment, that what!!!

  9. Actually, “money in the bank” should mean:

    1) Cash – 1,5,10,20 $ denominations in secure NONbank locations.

    2) Several months spending $$$ in prepaid visa gift cards. Yes, you have to pay 1-5$ per card but they are untraceable when used.

    3) Several burner phones you buy with cash and minutes you buy with the gift cards.

    4) At least 1 computer you have with no record, use TOR, a vpn and proton mail.

    5) RFID pouches to block gps signal of any phones you have.

    6) Several months, pref 1 year, of everything your family needs.

Just in case you end up on somebody’s little list.

  10. Here is what was introduced in January 2019. While the whole bill is concerning, the part prohibiting the transfer of grandfather magazines is really concerning.

    https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/66
    Introduced in Senate (01/09/2019)
    Assault Weapons Ban of 2019

This bill makes it a crime to knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) or large capacity ammunition feeding device (LCAFD).

The prohibition does not apply to a firearm that is (1) manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action; (2) permanently inoperable; (3) an antique; or (4) a rifle or shotgun specifically identified by make and model.

The bill also exempts from the prohibition the following, with respect to a SAW or LCAFD:

    importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession related to certain law enforcement efforts, or authorized tests or experiments;
importation, sale, transfer, or possession related to securing nuclear materials; and
possession by a retired law enforcement officer.
The bill permits continued possession, sale, or transfer of a grandfathered SAW, which must be securely stored. A licensed gun dealer must conduct a background check prior to the sale or transfer of a grandfathered SAW between private parties.

The bill permits continued possession of, but prohibits sale or transfer of, a grandfathered LCAFD.

Newly manufactured LCAFDs must display serial number identification. Newly manufactured SAWs and LCAFDs must display the date of manufacture.

The bill also allows a state or local government to use Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program funds to compensate individuals who surrender a SAW or LCAFD under a buy-back program.

  11. White house flips parties every 4 or 8 years. Hasn’t ushered in the zombie apocalypse yet. Republicans gained overall in the election, particularly in the House. Supreme Court has shifted to the right. I don’t get the sense of impending doom. Trump was no miracle worker. Supreme Court has been upholding gun rights. I don’t expect much except a different style of PR for the next four years out of the White House.

  12. I think a lot of people are looking at history to plan for the future. However, the progressives have seen their doom if they lose power. Thus, the all-too-obvious chicanery to acquire it. It will never again be as it was – there is no history that will illustrate the future pending. Already, there are lists being drawn up, discussions of ensuring those who helped wield power these last 4 yrs be found, noted, and made to pay. A least that aspect of progs remains the same – vengeance once power is reacquired.

But do not assume it will ever be the same battlefield, the same acquiescence, as before. Either they go down entirely within 4 weeks or they begin their scrubbing of the nation.

  13. I don’t see an AWB passing muster with the current supreme court. To many of them to not be “in comon use”.

  14. Hope you didn’t short the market today. Biden win and “promising” COVID vaccine data equals record highs on Wall Street. What a coincidence.
