#NotAHypocrite

Well…actually…I am a hypocrite on far too many things. But, this time I took my own advice:

Two brand new gen-you-eyn Wavian ‘Euro/NATO’ fuel cans. Why? Because there was literally, to my mind, no good reason not to. Availability of the cans is spotty, prices ain’t gonna go down, no one is ever sorry to have an extra ten gallons of fuel onhand, the world still isn’t getting any safer, and I had the cash available. So….yeah. It’s one of those purchases that I will have absolutely zero regrets on.

  1. CZ, went out and ordered 8 cans plus 4 spouts from WW Grainger, which should be outside my front door later this week. They are spendy, but worth the expense with spicey times approaching. So glad my wife gets it when it comes to being prepared.

  2. Smooth move Zero. This subject matter is really a top tier item, really in equivalence to muh guns, food, medical, etc. You are astute to highlight the often out of sight and out of mind categories that other blogsters never mention. Those cans will be a high value commodity in crunchy times when the trucks stop rolling, and as well when imports are blockaded continentally and regionally. Keep prepping.

  3. I never have regrets after I’ve spent the money. I only have regrets in the choices of the item purchased. Usually, but not always the more expensive turns out to be the better choice……… Hard to do anymore when so many of your purchases are done sight unseen……. Therein lies the problem……
    Quality always rules the roost.

  4. ALWAYS good to have a little more fuel than you need than not enough! I like the Eagle and Justrite gas cans myself. They’re expensive though.

  5. Just ordered 4 from my local Grainger, Fri pickup…

    Tango Mike Zero…

  6. I’ve got three of these that I bought 29 years ago. Two have been locked to a Jeep trailer that sits outdoors in the weather. They’ve gotten rusty, especially where they touch the custom made carrier. Time for a restoration project. I need to buy a new pouring spout too. Something crushed the old one.

    • I got some of that spray-on rubber coating and spraycoated the bottom third of the cans where they touch the ground so that theyd be protected from scrapes exposing metal to rust.

  7. Be careful of what spout the different cans accept, older european cans can take different spouts(especially german large opening). The good quality flexible metal spouts are the best with others far behind.

  8. Thanks CZ, have been thinking about picking up some quality metal gas cans. These seem to fit the bill!!!

  9. @CZ, I spray the rattle can truck bed liner on the bottom of my metal tool boxes too. Otherwise they always rust. It’s very tough, and not too thick.

  10. I have two of the Blitz nato style cans I got at a yard sale. They both have different caps/spouts so it’s not just the real deal cans that are different. I couldn’t find a cap for one, or a spout for the other. I use a pump with the capped one, and I haven’t filled the spouted one yet as I don’t trust the seal.
