Scenes from CostCo

Hmmm…solar panels and LifeStraws. What do the folks at CostCo know that the rst of us don’t?

In actuality, this is probably just related to summer-outdoor-time rather than descent-into-chaos-time….but, they do sell Mountain House freeze drieds and bulk bags of rice, so perhaps….

Actually, for someone who wants to experiment with an itty bitty solar power setup to practice their skills, that $99 deal might not be a bad buncha cheap materials to practice on.

The Taliban are coming. And they’re not wearing masks.

  2. Was at the “local” COSTCO the other day, and noticed the life straws, same price as Amazon.

  3. i bought several of those solar sets on sale, plus a 20% off coupon at harbor freight a few years back. i think they’ll be good trade items in the future. they’ll charge a battery or run a couple lights, which came with them. a few of those filters or better yet sawyers will likely be gold. don’t have a costco, but our sam’s has gone from one choice of rice in ten pound bag to a whole wall of 25 and even a fifty pounder, same for beans. still no mh though. i suspect it would sell out in minutes anyway. i am finding more folks getting food in order, but have no idea about long term water, even less about sanitation.

  4. I saw the same thing at our Costco in Houston two weeks ago. Lifestraws in particular caught my eye. They were in the “outdoor” section of the store, swingsets, fertilizer, pool floats…

The MH box that is currently in the store has too much breakfast cereal in it, but I still buy a box on most trips. Got two boxes in the truck now and at least one will stay there.

  5. If Costco was marketing these for ‘summer’, they’re about 4-5 month late…

  6. “What do the folks at CostCo know that the rst of us don’t?”

    How to make big money.

  7. When Costco’s selling NBC suits in Family 4-packs with a 6 mo. supply of potassium iodide on the side, I will start worrying…
Until then, normal monthly preps – I got a list…

  8. There are a ton young people on Tik Tok and other social media platforms living out of vans and RV’s. Much like the movie Nomandland. They drive anywhere they want have solar panels set on top of vans and work remotely from their vans. They have few belongings packed away nicely in the van and I’ve seen a few lifestraws. Costco is catering to the youngsters who are mobile.

  9. Sadly, that’s Costco in MT.

Sadly, not so much anywhere here in SoCal, nor anything like.

On the plus side, your LDS cannery info some months back has been paying dividends I didn’t expect.
