Augason at Winco

Was up at Winco today and, to my surprise, they had a bunch of Augason Farms. Last time they had the Augason Farms stuff was about nine months ago.

Not a huge selection, but certainly some good items there to fill in the gaps if youre not quite ready for the upcoming apocalypse. An LMI buddy of mine dragged his feet last time in getting up there and wound up kicking himself about missing out on a couple things. I told him, repeatedly, to not dawdle and get up there….but, he didnt and ha spent the last nine months regretting it. I immediately let him know these were back and that he should take a lunch break from work and go pick up the cans he missed. I also told him that he should let me know if he couldnt get away and I’d do it for him…. Because thats what survivalist buddies do for each other.

I didn’t pick up anything because…well…I’m Commander Zero and I stocked up on this stuff a long time back. But, I’m tempted to pick up a couple cans of the vegetable stew to try with a couple cans of canned roast beef.

  1. Thanks for the tip. I usually buy the frozen stew vegetables and dehydrate them. However circumstances have changed and more is needed than just for me. I see that Zon has the pail of the veggies. 1 of those should suffice.
As always thanks for being the brains of the outfit. LMAO

  2. I’ve been surprised to see a decent assortment of their stuff in the bulk food section of my local Walmart.

It’s the only Walmart I know that HAS a bulk food section.

  3. My wife’s uncle (never married/no kids) died in 2019, and as we began unveiling his storage bunker in 2021, we found…..12 x #10 cans of Augason. Nobody else knew what it was, or wanted it. Now it fills a shelf in our bunker.

    Thanks, Uncle Bill!

  4. About three weeks ago Augason put several of their #10 offerings on sale on Amazon. Bread & Roll Mix was marked down from $25.99 to $10.54 (-59%), Pancake Mix went from $20.99 to $10.66 (-49%), Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal went from $29.99 to $16.08 (-46%), Butter Powder went from $42.99 to $17.07 (-60%) and the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo went from $58.99 to $44 (-25%). I grabbed several cans. Even more amazing than the prices was the fact that only one can out of 10 was even slightly dented.

I don’t have a local Walmart that carries Augason Farms, so I checked their online store. As it happens, the sale prices cited above were exactly the same at Walmart online.

I don’t know what happened, but I agree that for the moment the Augason Farms supply chain blockage seems to have eased. Fewer and fewer people laugh when I mention the coming food shortage.

It’ll sure help hold down the food smells and improve odds of survival if those who are prepared can get by with just boiling water for the first few weeks. Hot dogs and burgers on the charcoal grill might just be the kiss of death for those cooking them.

    • Sale still going on at Amazon as of 8-17. just bought a number of cans. Thanks for the heads up!

  5. The Vegetable soup with canned beef is good. add Boullion cubes. The Creamy potato soup, replace half the water with milk, add half a stick of butter, 2 cans of corn drained a can of creamed corn, dice 4 slices of bacon and fry, add this and grease to the pot and half a tall can of chopped clams and liquid from COSTCO and you have a great clam chowder. add more corn and no clams for corn chowder, add chopped ham or Spam for ham chowder. 20 cans of Creamy Potatoe and 20 cans of vegetable plus corn, sliced celery and other canned stuff and you have meals for a year. Throw in a handful of rice for variety.
