Paratus 2022

Happy Paratus, my fellow deplorables!

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT PARATUS

In case you didnt get one, here is this years card:

This year, the Paratus Long Range Recon Gift Squad brought me a little boomtoy I’ve been wanting for a while. I’ll have a post up about that tomorrow.

I hope you all have a great Paratus, get lotsa cool gear, and take this opportunity to increase your resilience against what’s coming.

And a generalized thank you to everyone who wished me a happy Paratus, and a special thank you to the handful of people who sent gifts (or gift cards) to yours truly. I appreciate it.

Go out there and play with your new gear this weekend…thats what the holiday is for!

  1. With respect for the day, and in the spirit of “boomtoys”, please let me share my excitement and conclusions about a scope recently purchased and in the mail, the Archen SH-4 4-16×50 Gen 2.

There are many reviews of this scope along side competing scopes where the reviewer chose another, and not Arken as their first choice. Yet the review was honest, They found the Arken scope to be not only good enough, yet worthy of comparison to competing scopes in the higher end price brackets. There are also many You Tube experts who found the scope to be an exceptional buy. And then there is the highly qualified opinion of a professional in the industry, who is regularly tests scopes for a living, tiborasaurasrex. I attempt to vet my experts. He also has a 94 part instructional video series on ELR shooting and conducts training events on the topic. Here is one of many of his critics of the scope. He has purchase a bag full for his own use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K89ZjwJSJOs&t=553s

TiborasaurasRex, and other well establish YouTubers, have spent many hours comparing Arken scopes to other examples. If you can afford a better scope, please purchase it. The Arken is the lowest cost option that is reliable, and gets the job done. I do not care what scope is used, yet recommend a turret scope that gets you out to longer ranges than can a simple 3×9 typically used for hunting, even if it is a Leopold. And just because I’ll be shooting 6.5×55 out of two old $200 dollar Mauser rifles, does not mean everyone should. Of course not. My neighbor insists on using a 6.5 PRC Weatherby he got on sale cheap for only $2,500. Would he put an Arken scope on that rifle? I am going to see if he likes the scope, but if it does not cost at least $2,000, I doubt he would use it regardless of how good it was.

However, if we are using PACE in our planning, wouldn’t it be wiser to spend $500 on a scope and rifle, that is good enough and purchase at least 3 copies in case we loose one, and break one? I appreciate the virtues of redundancy, and wholeheartedly embrace, and use PACE in all aspects of my preparations. And I gotta get it done on the cheap. Just the other day, bears raided my cabin and destroyed thousands of dollars of essentials. Yet I did not cry, because I did not have all my eggs in one basket.

To get a true bargain, use the discount code REX170, so that we get a $170 discount on a $194 accessories package. https://www.arkenopticsusa.com/combo-pack This makes the scope a killer deal.

If you are uncertain about the quality, view many hours of reviews from different perspectives on YouTube. And at the price mentioned, consider that the risk is low, and the reward, possibly priceless.

  2. Happy Paratus from Italy!
This year I got myself some cool German Army surplus gear in flecktarn camo.

  3. Joyous Paratus day commander and everyone else. I actually gave out a few gifts this year yet the preppers I gave them to were a bit confused as to “why”. Well, except for one.
    Oh well maybe next year.

  4. The older flectarn gortex rain gear is a exceptional value, worn in all weather at work snd holds up well.
