Hmmm…the AK and AR mag situation is better than I thought, but still lots of room for improvement.
For the AR
46 – Military 30-rd
10 – Military 20-rd
02 – Steel 20-rd
01 – Commercial 10-rd
07 – Eagle plastic 30-rd (Actually, theyre good mags)
66 magazines total
On the AK front, not as good but a decent amount for the short term
03 – 40-rd
16 – 30-rd
02 – 5-rd mags that Im not even counting towards a total
19 magazines total
FAL is set with a solid 32 20-rd metric mags
The Glocks make a respectable showing with
G26 – 2×10 rd
G17 – 14×17 rd
G19 – 7×15 rd, 5×10 rd.
G18 – 8×33 rd. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
The Ruger 10-22 comes in with 45×25 rd, 8×10 rd.
Still havent gotten to the P35 and 1911 yet.
how is the fal set with 32 mags? you cant even load a full case into em!
remember if you get pinned in you wont be able to reload mags.

lol i just went and put a dsa sa58 on hold this afternoon (i’m waiting on a check) i got it for 1050$ and it comes with the DSA optics mount already.
i figure if i can get them at 5 each i’d like to get 50 just to be crazy.
granted no other arm that i have will have nearly that many mags (20/ar-15, 7/g20) but i figure if i ever have to hold a defensive position this is the rifle i’ll use.
What’s a good source for AK mags? Either composite or steel?

I wish I were as well off with mags as you are. Definitely on the private side, but on the military side I still don’t get nearly that many. Of course, a) I will have lots of backup, and b) I’m primarily going to be on a heavy machinegun, so in theory the M4 and M9 mags will usually just be a backup. Of course, we all know that sometimes gunners get called down from their vehicles to do house to house patrols, so I will be making a solid effort to aquire more magazines, and if that doesn’t seem to be panning out very well, I’ll take some of my own.

Just out of curiousity (if you don’t mind me asking), do you have a legally registered G18, or just mags for it? I ask because I’ve been considering going for some Form 4 stuff, more for fun/collecting/investing (because from a tactical standpoint, well, I’ve fired an AK-47 on full auto, and let’s just say that a properly executed hammered pair in semi is more effective and efficient) than anything else and am curious as to how much of a pain in the ass it was for you. Have you done much interstate travel/moving with them if so?

Mope. Just have the mags. I wanted something for times when I wouldnt have ahand free for reloading (i.e. driving, dragging something/someone, etc).
Also, Ive been wanting a KelTec 9mm carbine and they take Glock mags, so the G18 mag is very obviously the way to go on that.

I got one of those, spankin’ new. Mine has the mangled/chopped grip that can take the G19 mag. First 10 rounds were choppy. After that, the action sorted itself out and has been Vera Naahce(tm). About 3 stovepipes in the first 100 rounds, but overall pretty sweet.
