Out of the gate

Alright, its Januray 1st…let’s light this candle.

My goals are fairly simple for this year – double my Roth, double my stash of silver, double my emergency fund, and find a damn scope for my .338 Lapua that I still havent shot.

The rest of the plan is to just maintain what I have. Cycle through the food and fuel and replace as used.

Basically, just keep up the resilience. I expect there’ll be some career moves this year, so I look forward to that and the resultant additional income it’ll offer.

What say you, my peeps? Whats on the agenda for 2021? I mean, you know, other than not dying from the Wuhan Flu*. Got any prep-related goals left unfilled? Got a glorious upgrade planned that the wife finally gave you the greenlight to do? Pulling the trigger on that whole house generator? BOV? Hideyhole? Let’s hear about it.

*=Yeah, I’m gonna keep calling it Wuhan Flu because there should be no doubt about who is responsible for that stuff.

  1. I’ve been collecting parts for a decent sized solar array. Still need charge controllers though.

Bought another freezer, which prompted the desire to move the solar project along.

STILL don’t have the whole house gennie hooked up. All the parts are there, just haven’t brought in the guy to do it.

Cleaning up, trying to sell all the things I bought to sell but then didn’t. What doesn’t sell will go to the scrap dealer. Turning a burden into cash is a good thing and long overdue.

By calling a BOL a “vacation home” my wife and I MAY just be able to find something that meets both goals. She sees very clearly the benefit of having someplace to go if things get sporty here on the edge of the metropolis. We just disagree on some of the details. Competition for suitable real estate is fierce. LOTS of people seem to be seized by the same idea recently.

And this might be the year I actually move my physical fitness along a bit. I’ve lost 10 pounds during the restrictions, and I feel like I can build on that…

As always, we’ll see what actually happens.

    • I did this a few years ago with great success, my wife helped design the cabin and decorate it which turned out more Crate and Barrel than Cabela’s but hey I now have a place 65 miles away deep in the woods on 40 acres with a stream that is a game superhighway and my own private shooting range even if I have to pay for satellite WiFi so she can still shop for cute clothes online while we’re there.

  2. Happy New Year Mr.Zero and the rest of like minded folks visiting hereabouts….. Hmmmm, think I’ll simply continue with the projec listt not completed in 2020, building more storage for preps, (what else). Wilst I wait for snow to melt and the end of an occupation of watching wood burn, I’ll plan out what I can control and ignore the rest. Cause it’s still a crap shoot how the new year shakes out. Personally I’m not holding out much hope for a “peaceful” 2021 and expect it to turn into a Mad Max year as it further unfolds. Oh yeah, one thing I gotta remember to do, once we are allowed to go out of the house and remove our face diapers, is report to someone, not that it’ll matter, the missing items from my safe. Seems last I checked it was empty……..along with all those little 6″x7″x11″ green cans…… hmmmm……. strange eh! Can’t understand it……

  3. Traditionally, a flu or new virus/disease is named after the area where it is first discovered. I have ALWAYS called it the Wuhan Virus. If you were paying attention, the first couple of days the media was calling it the same, but then the chinese put pressure on the msm (and i include fox in that despicable term) to not call it that. Another reason to stick with Wuhan Virus.
(+ i dont think anyone has ever disputed that it made the jump to humans in wuhan china. well, except for those that believe it came out of a biowarfare lab in wuhan, china. so whatever)

    • Only place it could of come from is Ft.Detrick. US military still can’t find any of the 300 service members who attended the World Military Games in Wuhan but didn’t win a single medal?

  4. Recently finished school, so hopefully a nice new career myself, which will hopefully allow a move to a much less populated location. Then there is nearly nothing else on the list until the loans are paid off…

  5. This week the wife is getting her kitchen done finally, a big job but it is time. In return, the new 13K house generator is being stalled (was on back order for awhile). 3k rounds of 5.56 is coming in on Sunday, now just hold up it was ordered back in March of 2020. I am still amazed they honored the price. I am deciding on whether or not to expand my part time business. My main goal is to to set up the best pain management plan to deal with some neurological injuries I incurred. We have been lucky through 2020 to fair pretty well. We are just continuing and fixing any gaps we have had.

  6. A couple years back, I had a downsizing/rationalization/upgrade/repair plan for the armory that got interrupted by unemployment immediately followed car issues followed by losing my apartment followed by the Wuhan Flu…I recently managed to get one old rifle sold off, the AR looked over and tweaked by the gunsmith, and installed a much better rear sight on the pistol. Panic or not, I’m going to try to continue selling off the redundant/inoperable ones, with the end goal of having a few nice guns that I will actually use rather than a closetfull of ones that aren’t worth much from either a monetary or utilitarian point of view.

  7. This year’s goals? Finish rebuilding one of my old diesels, get a generator shed built and one of my generators set up in it, get my loader working better and use it a lot, improve my garden, set up my solar panels and get some batteries and an inverter.

  8. “Whats on the agenda for 2021?”

Buying all the soon-to-be-banned firearms I’ve been stocking magazines for 😉

  9. Been fighting some medical issues, but most have been cleared up. The “good” thing is I lost about seven pounds during this time. I will get back to a physical regime as much as possible with my limitations. I will bump up my dry stock of storage, and add another buck worth of dehydrated food. I am looking at a purchase of a house in my area I want to relocate too. We shall see. Lastly, I am getting stronger in my Faith, and closer to some fellow Believers. Can’t go wrong there.

  10. Drop 15 lbs, get out and hike/ruck (35lbs) 3x a week, double down on no perishables.

Oh and buy all the glocks I see under $400

  11. if I can get my hands on more primers and bullets catch up on many thousands of brass 9mm/.40 S&W/ .45 ACP/5.56 etc to ready status. Have to acquire a large gun safe for sure. Cut and split way more wood than what I have. Beef up the tactical training at my range in the north woods for sure. And as always acquire more long term foodstuffs for the inevitable day when the next virus is far worse than this I-can-still-go the store or McDonald’s for food comes along. God bless all of you people into 2021.

  12. I would be satisfied if CZ would continue to be a bastion of light and sound wisdom as he has always been shown to be. Looking forward to future posts.

  13. Increase my “essential worker” status, just increased income 50% from last job(new boss gave me big raise without asking). New license should increase income 50% more(already have job offers),6 months and increase by 50% again. Will have to move to tax haven location to escape crazy democrooks. New locations range just finished 1000yd range last year(will need scope and heavier bullets. Still recovering from preps lost to fire. Check your insurance for proper coverage.

  14. 1. Finish my part time MBA with straight A’s (80% done and so far so good), use this to obtain my next promotion (already interviewing for my old boss’s job)
    2. Put $60K more in cash savings in addition to normal levels of 401K investing
    3. TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN. I do well at this taking about 6 pistol and 6 carbine courses a year outside of range time (which isn’t the same as training under the watchful eye of an instructor) but I need to do more. Also I will join a Brazilian Ju Jitsu gym this year (appointments to check out 3 in my area are already made) to work on my empty handed skills which like 95% of us if we are honest are lacking.
    4. I’m starting a second side hustle manufacturing gun parts, I have no idea how to manufacture things so I’ve found a mentor to learn 3D printing, CNC, etc. I see some parts that I think the market needs and I intend to make them. I will have my first prototypes by year end.
    5. Continue my outstanding fitness progress from 2020. I’m in my 40’s and I managed to set PRs across the board despite living a life of already previously good fitness habits and plan to go up from here. Some of my best events weren’t just my personal record but a gym record that even the 20-somethings there couldn’t touch. I want more of this.

These are my main ones, with work, school, a 6 week old newborn and a toddler in the house and a wife that works full time and is further ahead than I am on her side hustle (her first several products launch on Amazon here next month) I have to be realistic about what I can do in a year!

  15. ordered a stribog and went back to working out. pretty good year so far, lol….goals: sell off excess and unused items. harley, ar’s, canoes, maybe even the back up truck. quit my job or get a new one. get fit and off medications. reconnect with old friends. of course wu flu part xxi will likely interfere with all of the above. hasn’t anybody wondered how in two weeks time a new strain was discovered in england, identified, test developed, and distributed worldwide in time to find cases in fla, co, and kali? yall noticed the new york gulag law they just passed? gonna be an interesting year.

  16. What do you mean by double your Roth? My Roth IRA only allows $6000 contribution per year.

  17. I need to build and equip two new AR-10s… if/when parts become available. I’ll look for another private sales AK but that should do it. Just need to get spares and breakable parts for what I have already. I need to rebuild a homemade FIFO rack, and maybe make another. There a LOT of items just sitting around that need to be catagorized and packed away long term. More more security upgrades; solar floodlights and security lights maybe get to that camera system.

But the biggest item this year is a new roof… gotta protect that shell for the pile of stuff.

  18. Finally shoot my LCRx and get to an indoor range for it. I figure that 50 rounds is the most that I can shoot before making a sizable dent in ammo supply.
Anybody else got a new gun they haven’t shot yet?

  19. An_abject_surrender_without_moving_a_finger

If the Allies had lost WW2 and germany and japan had invaded America and enslaved Americans, somebody might have said “America is still there” but that would not have been America.

The people might have been there, still.
The buildings might have been there, still.
The mountains and the rivers might have been there, still.

But that would not have been America.

When collectivism takes over America and cannibal feudal tyrants rule the remains of the late Constitutional Republic the United States of America (July 4th, 1776 – November 3rd, 2020), the people, the buildings, the mountains and the rivers might still be here but this is not America any longer.
This is not America anymore since November the 3rd, 2020.
    This is not America anymore.

Government to be legitimate needs the consent of the governed.
And the Constitution has to be respected.
    Neither is happening.

So this is not a Constitutional Republic, any longer.
This is not the United States of America, any longer.

Any pretense otherwise is just that.
America died on November 3rd, 2020.
    Yes, it was suicide.

A considerable number of lefto-pukes decided to attack the Republic and kill it.
Patriots decided to let them by not showing up and killing each and every one of them.
    The lefto-pukes won, unopposed.
    The country died.

What we have now are the rotting remains ruled by unopposed brute force from cannibal feudal lords and collectivists, illegitimate usurpers of any post they might pretend to hold.

    The patriots idle.
Don’t ever say it was a struggle.
    It wasn’t.

    1775 was a struggle.
2020 was an abject surrender without moving a finger.

And don’t ever call this “America” anymore.
    Welcome to Venezuerica.

Venezuerica is a 3rd world pigsty ruled by force by communist mobs, mau mau style, for the benefit of a handful of feudal lord mafiosi who dictate their ukases like Persian emperors of 400 BC over a peasant ocean of slaves with no say, no rights and no individuality whose lives are worthless to their arab sheiks like rulers and who are considered by them as less then farm animals.

And you had better start learning the new one:

    “I pledge allegiance
to the Red Flag of the United Socialist States of Venezuerica,
and to the Collective for which it stands,
one Province of the New World Order under Allah and George Soros,
obedient to the UN One World Government,
with social justice and intersectionality for all.
For Marx and Lenin and Marcuse, amen!!”

This is how the Frenkfurt School’s ant-hill with the one-hive-mind works, ant!

    Ooo-oo-oooohhhh!! . . . Whaaaaat?!! . . . You have a strange taste in your mouth, now?!!

    Good!!

That’s how being an ant-slave tastes like.

    Get used to it, ant!

This is what the rest of your life will be like and you children’s lives and your grand children’s life, ad infinitum.

And all the glorious American patriot warriors that ever died for America can turn in their graves all they want because they died for nothing.

    Better red than dead?

You are about to find out.

  20. FTR, I go with “Kung Flu”, because that one went from one of my commenters, to POTUS himself, in 3 weeks.

    To Do list:
    1) HAM ticket, clear to Extra
    2) Welding card, once the occ. ctr. classes open up again, someday
    3) Camp Snoopy work, and break ground on the Castle Anthrax.
    4) Working on either Korean, or Mandarin. Spanish is fluent enough to branch out to third language now.

All of that presumes that running either an underground cell structure in suburbia, or a guerrilla band in the mountains, hasn’t taken priority.

Inside word from Vegas oddsmakers on how 2021 will go is baically; “Take the bet for business-as-usual. Because if everything goes totally tits up, we’ll never have to pay off anyways.”

    Time will tell.

  21. I am pulling the trigger on a generator. Not whole house, but I am getting my panel configured so the genny connects to it and I can turn on the circuits that I want to run. Electrician is coming out Friday.

Searched your site to see what brand you use, which led to an off-hand comment that you use the generator to power security cams. I assume you aren’t using anything connected to the cloud (Ring, Amazon, Simplisafe, etc.). Any brand or setup recommendations?

    • Im very low tech. I have a Honda EU2000 that I use for keeping the freezer and cameras going. The other stuff like radio and lights run for weeks on batteries.

      • Right, I am getting a Honda EU. But I was asking about your camera setup. I want local storage only. I can find stuff on Amazon, but when I look for recommendations, all I find are articles on cloud systems.

        • My camera setup is pretty simple…its just a wired system that I have plugged into a couple computer UPS. If the power goes down, the UPS keeps things running seamlessly until I get the generator running and the UPS plugged into it.
