Blog roundup

ETA: Guys, use your head….if youre going to mention a blog that you think other people would be interested in, don’t just say “You need to read Steve’s blog!”…post an actual link. C’mon……

Unfortunately the roster of blogs that are preparedness-related is constantly changing as blogs fall to the wayside…victims of lack of interest, lack of time,  or lack of hearbeats. My blog reading has taken a hit as some of my favorites have gone dark. Even though it is 404’d I still have Self Sufficient Mountain Living in my list of daily reads even though there hasn’t been a peep from its owner, publicly and privately, for a couple years now. But..he’d gone dark before and returned. I hope, I hope……

So, whats on the daily read? Here you go:

I’m always up for looking at new blogs. If you know a blog that might interest me, is frequently updated, has a low religious quotient, doesn’t have a tinfoil hat dress code, and is decently written….link a brother up. And tell ’em Commander Zero sentcha.

  1. I communicated with our mutual friend up in the mountains midway through quarantine. They had circled the wagons to wait the Indians out. I’ll try to send him a note this week.

    • No kidding? If you don’t mind, would pass along a message that I send my greetings and hope to hear from him sometime?

    • Personally, I’m glad to see something from Ryan/TOR.
Best Wishes and Season’s Greetings, man.

The same to our Bloghost. Happy to provide some internet entertainment to you. Keep doing what you do. If you’re not the Pole Star of preparedness, you’re close enough to navigate by.

  2. I used to rear Harry’s blog at S.S.M.L. but now you seem to need his invite? We had written back and forth a few times a ways ago. Hope he is still Kicking!

  3. Try eatonrapidsjoe.blogspot.com. He’s a good writer on many different topics and it’s all very light and funny.

  4. A couple of my daily reads

    Splendid Isolation-https://www.kimdutoit.com

    PawPaw’s House-https://pawpawshouse.blogspot.com/

  5. I enjoy “Wilder, Wealthy, and Wise:” He posts Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – pretty witty guy with a solid take on events – worth a gander.

  6. https://bayourenaissanceman.blogspot.com/
Peruse a few. Always informative and thought provoking.

    Peter’s description:
The idle musings of a former military man, former computer geek, medically retired pastor and now full-time writer. Contents guaranteed to offend the politically correct and anal-retentive from time to time. My approach to life is that it should be taken with a large helping of laughter, and sufficient firepower to keep it tamed!

  7. I miss Remus.
Hope Ryan/TOR and Harry Flashman comes back.

  8. Thanks for this list, CZ. Some of these sites I knew of, but many I didn’t. One that I miss most is the Woodpile Report by some guy who went by the name Ol’ Remus. It wasn’t really a prepper site, more just observations about society, self-sufficiency and good sense. He died in the past year or so and never mentioned a chronic illness that I ever saw. Miss that guy’s work.

  9. Ditto thanks for the list. I did not know that Claire Wolfe was still writing. I have her books from ages ago and mourned the demise of Loompanics Press. The question is more relevant today than ever before: “Is it time yet to start shooting the bastards Claire?”

  10. I enjoy the photos at Daily Timewaster. I enjoy reading many of the blogs listed above, I appreciate you and all of them who go to the effort to write mind scribblings for our knowledge and entertainment. The comments of the discussions are great too.

    • Some comment threads are great, others are so full of trolls, spam, and flame wars that they’re not worth the time. The comments here on this site are for the most part excellent and enlightening.

  11. Appreciate the list. As a suggestion for future posts, it might be enjoyable to see the various news sights you visit.

  12. I don’t have any to add beyond those already mentioned.
I have a couple that used to be very good, but they have slowed posting and (mostly) changed subject more recently… Almost everybody changes over time, unfortunately.

  13. “the intrepid reporter” ex military/merc. goes by the handle big country, funny as hell….

  14. Thanks for the H/T CZ, I’d say it’s more about the community than me, although I try to do my part to start things off and keep things moving 🙂

(and I’m trying to carry on a legacy, so I started by standing on shoulders…)

  15. One of my daily site visits is to patriotretort.com. It is updated almost daily, is always insightful and often hilarious. Try it.
