Sui generis

I was sent this quote the other day and it kinda fits me…

I’ve no idea who this Russell guy is but that sure sounds like a Heinlein quote to me. I’m slightly disturbed, though,  at the thought that the phrase “unnecessary tyranny” implies that there is a such thing as “necessary tyranny”.

Still and all, a good quote and probably pretty appropriate for a character like m’self.

  1. Oh foresure there is necessary tyrrany. My old daddy used it every day to keep me in line growing up. 🙂

  2. I took the ‘necessary tyrrany’ in the quote to mean there must be an establishment of bounds in society. Men and Women have separate facilities for bathing for example – how many (excusing the horn dogs out there) really would mind having that rescinded. They aren’t all young and beautiful to peek at and walking around with forks in your eyes really does sound unnecessary.

  3. Bertrand Russell was communist filth. He did in actual fact believe in “necessary tyranny”: he would have gladly seen it imposed on the likes of us.
