Mags for the masses

Because I don’t trust that Biden guy…..

If 30-rounds mags are good, then these are 1//3 gooder at 40-rounds.

And even if another ban doesn’t occur, its not like the prices of these things ever go down.

  1. Dang dude, where (non specifically) do you keep em all? Asking because I’m trying to store mine in a smaller new place and they seem to be turning into tribbles. The usual spots are full of gear and crap already.

  2. “A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, too much ammunition or too many high capacity magazines ”

    ― Rudyard Kipling

    • The only time you can have too much ammo, is if you’re drowning or on fire.

  3. I wonder if there’s a ‘metric’ somewhere to get a sense of how many magazines are sold annually? My suspicion is, there’s a whole generation of people with ‘scars’ from earlier magazine bans who have been stockpiling rigorously. I’m one of them.

Not suggesting they aren’t a good investment. It’s just curious to me that, with marxists in the white house, ammo madness & very robust gun sales, magazines remain pretty reasonably priced. If anything is the ‘canary in the coal mine’ for firearm legislation, it should be mags.

    • I would say at least 100 million magazines in the hands of Americans based on the number of magazine feed semi-auto rifles out there, but may even be closer to a billion in reality.

  4. In these days, in which we live, it appears that
magazines are similar to precious metals.
They will rise in price, even though the prices
    will fluctuate somewhat at times…
But they’ll always hold significant value.
    Worthy investment

  5. I’m curious as to why people are stockpiling plastic mags if the thought is that they will be banned- the plastic ones will fail- personally I stock and use mil-spec aluminum GI mags. I have also put away a number of extra followers and springs. I’ve seen too many friends and relatives with issues with plastic mags to count on them for the long haul- I want them to be just as useful for my kids and grand kids

Plastic mags make good trade items. Even if they are in storage long enough to fail (very unlikely), the springs will be usable as spares. Very little will be lost…

    • “mil-spec aluminum GI mags” are produced by the lowest bidder for starters. They were also intended to be throw away items, thus the lower quality of materials used. Also, if you have to asks the question at this point why people buy polymer mags, then you are way behind the curve. I own many steel magazines, aluminum, and polymer and the polymers are stronger material then the beer can thin aluminum GI mags. If you want to use only metal magazines then invest in the steel magazines since they are based on the mi-spec GI mags, but much improved.

      • I have a fear of steel magazines gouging/wearing the aluminum alloy receiver of the gun. I try to stick with aluminum mags for most stuff and plastic Magpuls for practice.

  6. Another thought on the plastic mags:
files for 3D printing of mags, followers, and floorplates are pretty common even now. Maybe invest in some appropriate springs….?

While i do trust the Magpul brand mags, i use/train with metal mags exclusively.

  7. Do your research for plastic magazines. There’s a couple high quality magazine brands (Magpul being one of them) plus there’s lots of plastic junk only suitable for range use.
Seeing what front line troops wanted to trust in bad places is a good start, especially in the last several years.

There’s plenty of junk metal mags as well.

  8. My local hardware store had 30 rounders for 10.99 ea. Needless to say……….

  9. I have purchased considerable amounts of AR-15 Magpul P-Mags, and quality GI mags made by Okay Industries or D&H (formerly LaBelle). The Palmetto State Armory GI mags are made by D&H, with the PSA stamped floor plate. I have also purchased a substantial amount of Magpul magazines for my Glocks. I haven’t had any issues with any of the Magpul magazines for Glocks or AR15’s. I have had some malfunctions with a couple of cheap plastic magazines that were part of a gun trade, and those have went in the trash.
