Deviating from the book, unfortunately, but I’ll see it anyway. If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend doing so before seeing the movie so you can appreciate the movie a bit more.
The trailer seems to emphasize the violent confrontations that happened a few places in the book, but thats not really what the book was about. It was about loss, grieving, and trudging along in your grief even when you didn’t want to…continuing on after devastating loss and being hopeful. Not sure if that will convey in the film, but I guess we’ll see. And, as a fan of Ridley Scott’s stuff, I look forward to seeing his take on the story.
Great book! Like you, CZ, I have hope that Ridley will let some of the most important themes of the book shine through, although–based on some of his recent movies–I also believe that Ridley’s best days of directing are mostly behind him. I still have hope, however! It is one of my favorite post-apocalyptic books, mostly due to the themes you mentioned.
Good luck with the container! I look forward to hearing more about your efforts on your new place.
God bless and keep you safe,
Bob G.
