$5 / gallon

I finally saw my first gasoline in MT at $4.999/gallon. Call it five bucks. That, my friends, is crossing the rubicon.

I saw the other day that the chair of the Fed said “Yeah, I was kinda wrong about that inflation thing.” When the powers that be are admitting that they mighta coulda shoulda been a little more on the ball regarding inflation, you know you’re boned.

Other than a war, the only thing, in my opinion, that is going to make the nation turn the corner on this economy is the next presidential election. The last election was “Anyone but Trump” and look what we go. (Thats what happens when you order a President through the mail.) This next presidential election will be “Anyone but Biden…or any of his cronies.” Kamala Harris, who makes Dan Quayle look like Enrico Fermi, can’t run…she has the stench of failure on her. In fact, the Democrats will have to reach deep into their organization to run someone who hasn’t been associated with this administration and it’s absurdities. If we can manage to keep the wheel on this thing until the next election, I think we’ll see some major economic improvements. Midterm elections will possible be a good gauge of whats in store for 2024.

And, speaking of absurdities, there’s a lot of demands for ‘reasonable gun control’ which is being re-branded as ‘gun safety’. I’ve been yammering for the last 17 years that there was another ban coming and, one of these days, I’ll be proven right. Then again, on a long enough timeline everyone is right.

Still, being the impulsive paranoiac that I am, I picked up another couple cases of Pmags…y’know…just in case.

My main concern these days is cash (and, in true accounting terms, cash means cash..but it also means cash-like instruments…so, checking account monies, gold, silver, valuable items, property…anything that can be converted in cash quickly is, in fact, cash. My big concern is keeping a reserve of cash to keep me in the current lifestyle if I lose my job. I recall reading that the average American can’t handle a $400 emergency without going into debt. I cannot imagine. Right now, I’ve got almost a years salary tucked away, just for that sort of thing. But…you never know what form TEOTWAWKI is going to come for you as. Could come dressed up like a job loss, could come dressed up as WW3.1… won’t know until it gets here and taps you in the gonads.

For me, for now, it’s cash, food, metals…that’s pretty much my focus. I’ve got most of the stuff nailed down, there’s very little I ‘need’ for the upcoming apocalypse, but there’s always something. However, even with just what I have now, I feel good about the level of resilience I’ve hit. Just gotta stick to the plan, though.

  1. $6.25/gal here, sir. And it’s worse than that some places within shouting distance.

    Welcome to the party.

  2. Even “IF” there’s an election…
for the communists will not give up power…
Voting will “NOT” get us out of this communist coup…
WE ALL know what’s coming !

  3. “Thats what happens when you order a President through the mail.”

    Well-played, sir.

  4. Capitalism giveth and capitalism taketh away. I just paid $6.20/gal in Wickenburg, AZ. Warren Buffet said once the worst place to be in periods of high inflation is cash. Moving some money to S&P index fund and maybe the energy sector. Everyone will always need power, oil, gas and such. Don’t know if the market is at the bottom yet, I think it will go lower, we’ll see.

I don’t think it matters much who is president. The office is mostly a puppet for the lawyers, bankers and corporate elites. JFK went on the warpath against the bankers and look what happened to him.

Gun control? Was playing at the World Series of Poker here in Las Vegas this weekend and a guy from Texas at my table was wearing a hat that said “come and take it “. Pretty much sums up my feelings.

Thank you CZ for all you do. If anyone can swing it please become a Patreon to this site.

    Be careful out there.

    – the worst place for an INVESTOR to be might be cash, an investor being someone who tries to make money with money, and not by doing work to create new things.

Having the money you need for living day to day and going about your personal business locked up under other peoples’ control, when things stop being “normal” is one of the worst places to be. Remember Cyprus? Remember 2008? My retirement Money Market account was frozen for YEARS as they decided what to do to make depositors “whole” since it was never supposed to be worth less than $1 per $1 deposited.

There isn’t enough money in the FDIC to cover all the insured deposits, nor in the Pension Guarantee Fund, nor the equivalent for Credit Unions, or investment accounts.

Remember that the only way to get your money out of stocks or stock based vehicles is to sell to a willing buyer. If there are no willing buyers, or the market is shut down, you can’t get your money at ANY discount, let alone what it was worth a day earlier.

The TP I stored at $18 a bale is now selling for $26 a bale.* Lots of other stuff in my stacks has similar returns. In an inflationary period, the BEST thing to be in is physical goods that are in demand.

    n

Also, having funds available lets one scoop up true bargains when others are forced to sell by circumstances.

    * bale = giant shrink wrapped retail unit, in this case.

  6. Fuel here at $6.39, a $.70 cent raise in the last week. Last 6 months off-road went up 50% and the tax rate increased 50% as well. apparently the gov thinks he can just raise the tax rate as he likes without approval of the legislature.
Managed to plant a crop this year, but at the price of fuel presently it will rot in the field cause I can’t afford to harvest. Cost of harvest will be more than it’s worth.
Planned push to do away with fossil fuels, (there is no such thing as fossil fuels) then put total reliance on green energy. and Michigan mothballs a nuclear plant (which is green). Refineries are planning on shutting down completely citing cost to refurbish prohibitive, with others at idle cause of lack of demand, cause everything was locked down.
So if people can’t afford to buy fuel for the cars they have, how are they gonna afford $40-60 grand for a lectric car? Their trade in will be worthless cause they can’t be resold for anything but scrap metal. And once there are another 2 million lectric cars plugged into the grid, how are ya gonna keep the lectric on if you’re already talking about brownouts and blackouts cause of lack of generating capacity. Huh! Answer me that comrade poopypants!
None of this shit will change until it affects them personally, as in they are going hungry and all their ice cream in their $25,000 dollar fridges melts. All while having to feed and house the illegal invaders across the Southern border at their own expense. Meanwhile the sun still rises in the East.

  7. I think that this Time, the commies ARE going to be able to “Pass Legislation” of some (dangerous) ‘gun control’. The reason for this is, IMO, their own Plan of Destroying the Economy and effectively Enslaving Everyone is now starting to Crumble, and they know it – witness Henry Kissinger, of all the Lizards, lecturing his (((people))) at the Davos Conference that they had “Better do a Deal with Putin, before it’s Too Late”..

Whatever you think of Tsar Vladimir, Russia has become a (Nuclear-Armed) Force against the ‘west’, and its bankster/parasite class. The Chaos that the War in the Ukraine has started is clearly NOT in control of the (((globalists)))) and so the coming Economic Blowback here in the FUSSA will become Immensely Dangerous to the very Existence of the ‘government’ and its ’employees’. Thus, as much as it may not Work, the government MUST try to do something, Anything, to try and Disarm the Citizens.

What I see as most likely, is that a form of National ‘Red Flag Law’ will be enacted, allowing the Fools, Bunglers, and Incompetents to Sieze the Guns of Anyone they wish to Target and Silence. This will be done on the basis of “Hate Speech” and Inciting Rebellion, easy to do to anyone who has a Pro-Freedom Webpage (like this one).

As Always, the feral government and all its forces are Too Small to do “Gun Confiscation” as the commies dream of, but being able to Target ANYONE on the basis of what they say in Opposition to the government is the most effective way to prevent “Dissent” from spreading.

And No, you don’t have enough Ammo.

  8. Gas 5,99 this morning, that sound you hear in the distance is the helicopters for another fiat bomb on the Free Stuff Army, lots of non-workers getting big checks might be the cause of a little transitory. In a inflationary environment cash is trash, hard assets or in demand goods are the place to be (groceries ,gas, guns, heat, medicine, recreational drugs+alcohol). Poland just advised their citizens that firewood can be used to heat and cook with, just get a permit to pick up sticks in forests. Excuse me I am going to go expand my keto supply for Bidens cold winter

  9. Both gas stations in my little town were at $5.19 a gallon yesterday. Haven’t been out today. Might be higher yet.
Yep. Mr 81 million votes sure is a genius. Dumb as dog shit and twice as ugly. He can’t even board his damn airplane without falling on his ass.
I see the President of Mexico told old stupid what he could do with his invite to the summit of the Americas. Told him to stick it up his ass. Seems this fellow and the President of Brazil had very good relationships with Trump. They knew when he said something he meant it and would follow through. They don’t think much of the imposter and the Brazilian President has said he thinks Bite me is an illegitimate office holder. Thanks for joining the club.

  10. Got a promo from Classic Firearms. They have a great deal on 9mm Tula ammo. Lowest price I’ve seen in 5 years.

  11. “I recall reading that the average American can’t handle a $400 emergency without going into debt.”

Actually, that was a very flawed “study” among only college students. Most people aren’t anywhere near that yet. Yet.

Just more of the same hysterical fear-mongering I’ve been hearing since the ’70s (MOST PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY ARE ONLY ONE PAYCHECK AWAY FROM FINANCIAL DISASTER!!!!)

  12. Old Sarge would you care to point out where you got your data from?

I’m pretty well off from two sets of retirement and both of us are still working part time and I have already started serious reviews of expenditures and luxuries. Just because I can spend doesn’t mean I should given how rapidly food and fuel costs have risen during the Sockpuppets reign.

Or as that song goes “You an’t seen nothing yet”. Maybe Bad Moon Rising.

I work in a hospital and help out in a local food pantry. I can assure you I know personally plenty of hard working folks that have to reach for the Credit Card if their car’s tires were suddenly damaged by road debris or a pothole.

Barron’s and Forbes are showing that American Credit Card use has Maxed out since the stimmy checks stopped.

Please show your data, I’d like the encouragement.

  13. Cash, food, metals…Add to that physical improvements on the homestead, and you’ve pretty much called out where we are. My position is not perfect, but pretty good. We’ll keep it.

  14. It’s not just fuel. Just wait until electricity and natural gas triple in price. We are in for a very interesting ride Biden is getting everything he wants and seems aloof at why people are not thrilled with his “leadership”. There are a lot of people that deserve to be voted out of office this November.

I think we all realize it is going to get worse, but I’m thinking the bottom is a long way down from here. What does a freefall economy look like for 2+ years?

  15. Michelle Obama is now running in the 2024 presidential election. Showtime’s new series “The First Lady” is the start of her campaign.
