Paratus reminder

Hey guys…a reminder that Paratus, the holiday of, by , and for survivalists is coming up in two months. Shop early, avoid the rush!

If you’re new to paratus, the world-famous Paratus FAQ is available.

This year, Paratus falls on Sept. 17 2021.

As always, contact your local gun/ammo/food/med vendors and ask if they’re having any Paratus sales this year. Let’s get this holiday the recognition it deserves!

And, yes, Paratus cards will be going out this year for the third year in a row.

Paratus gifting

I received a Paratus gift in the mail the other day from someone and I figured I’d recognize their generosity here. In keeping with the demographic that show up in this blog, they chose to remain anonymous but wherever they’re “stuck” they have my grattitude. Thank you, sir! Best wishes for a productive apocalypse.

!!!! Paratus 2020 !!!! The Wuhan Flu Edition

Happy Paratus, my peeps!

Yes, once again it is that time of year. The backpacks are left by door with care, in hopes the Long Range Recon Gift Squad will soon be there. The water is on the stove for the freeze dried dinner, a Walking Dead marathon is teed up on the bigscreen, and we’re all wearing our favorite combat boots. It’s a Norman Reedus Rockwell Paratus! ( Made even more poignant by virtue of The Current Situation.)

(Everything you want to know about Paratus is at the world-famous Paratus FAQ)

As has become my habit, gifts and cards were sent to a small group of people…mostly people I know IRL, or over years of email/blogging…. however, if you’ve sent me something by snail mail and used your real return address, or you signed up for Patreon and gave me some contact info, you probably got a card this year.

What was this years card? Why, this little ditty:

If you didn’t get a card this year, it’s pretty easy to get on the hit list…. donate something to the blog through Patreon or snail mail and leave me your mailing address. Or, be someone I associate with in real life who I can actually tolerate. Or send me a card as well.

I hope you all have a happy and renumerative Paratus. Did you get cool gear this year? Did you do something special with your fellow survivalists? Did you get chased out of Cabela’s for raising a fuss when they didn’t offer a Paratus discount? Let’s hear about it in comments.

Send it

Paratus cards (and, in some cases, gifts) went out today. There are a few people whom I do not have current snail mail addresses for and am waiting to hear back from.

Didn’t get a Paratus card but want to be like the cool kids and get one next year? Easypeasy: either bribe me into it with a subscription to Patreaon or an Amazon gift card, or interact with me on a more-than-superficial level. Also, if you’re a blogger and you pimp my blog a bit…that works too.

Anway…cards are on the way and I’ll post a picture pf the cards Friday on Paratus. In the meantime, get your last minute shopping done. And be sure to ask your favorite freezedried/ammo/gear vendor if they have a Paratus sale, and if not, why not? (And when they say “Because i never heard of it” you can send ’em here.)

Paratus approaches!

Next Friday is Paratus…get your shopping done now and avoid the rush!

I’ll be dropping cards/gifts in the mail next Monday. As always, if you want to get your buddy Zero a little something for the holiday you can find the details here.

One other thing I’m exceptionally excited about: Gun shows! There are finally some gun shows going on around here. First ones since March. I’ll be up in Kalispell this weekend getting my fix.

Paratus approaches!!

Two weeks from today (Sept. 18, 2020)  is Paratus! The holiday of, for, and by survivalists.

Everything you wanted to know about Paratus is here in the glorious Paratus FAQ.

Got a business that’s running a Paratus sale? Lemme know and I’ll post a link. Let’s drive some traffic and get this holiday off the ground!

As for me, well…..I’m  easy to shop for. Which reminds me, if you’ve signed up to support the blog on Patreon, send me an email with the email address you used to sign up and your mailing address if you would like to receive one of this year’s Paratus cards.

Paratus approaches!!!

Man, it just seems like only a few weeks ago I was sending out Paratus gifts and cards. But…it’s seven weeks to Paratus…the holiday of, for, and by survivalists. This year is the fifth year of Paratus. If you’re new to this blog, I have a lovely little FAQ for you to tell you everything you need to know about the holiday that Hallmark still hasn’t made a card for.

Paratus FAQ

I’ve got this years cards on order, and a few gifts lined up. How does the gift giving part work? Heck man, thats the best part of the whole darn holiday! Read the FAQ! Paratus is September 18th this year. Get your shopping done early! Ask your favorite gun, freeze dried, ammo, or gear vendor if they have any Paratus holiday sales! Remember kids, any idiot can just make up a holiday…..and any idiot actually did! It’s the holiday that says “Yeah, I’m a paranoid survivalist…so what?”

As always, I’ll be giving you a couple more headsup as the date approaches but let’s get out there and share the joyous news of Paratus!

Paratus 2019

Greetings fellow survivalists! A happy Paratus to you all (well, most of you anyway).

Thats right, gang…today is Paratus – the holiday for surivalists.

This year I decided to be a little extravagant and send Paratus cards to a few fellow preparedness bloggers and other people who have interacted with me over the year. How did the cards turn out? Rather slick, if I do say so myself. Some people got just cards, some people got cards and a small gift. If you didn’t get a card but would have liked to…well…interact with me more and perhaps next year you too can get one of these (not) highly-collectible Paratus cards.

So! The traditions of Paratus have a long and noble history datingback to the times of…uhm…ok, it’s actually a fairly recent holiday. BUT….you can read all about it at the world-famous Paratus FAQ. I won’t recap it here because thats what the FAQ is for.

I did receive Paratus greetings (and even a gift or two) from several people and I am grateful. I’ll give the mail another day or two to make sure anything that was sent has arrived and then, if i received a gift from someone to whom I did not send a card/gift…..then I have to discharge my Paratus obligation of making a self-deprecating statement about my lack of reciprocity. (Check the “How does the gift giving work for Paratus?” part of the FAQ for more details on how that works.)

Ihope you’ll take some time today to engage in the traditional Paratus activities…although some of you live your everyday lives in such a state of preparedness that pretty much everyday is Paratus. If thats the case, I salute you! But as for the rest of you… get out there and shoot today, hang out with your LMI buddies and talk about preparedness-stuff, go to WalMart and pick up a case of canning jars, eat some freeze-drieds, or go watch “Threads” or “Red Dawn” while cleaning your AR.

It’s your holiday…make a new Paratus tradition for your household or something equally interesting. But, regardless, have a happy and well-geared Paratus.

Oh..and if you’re curious what the Paratus cards for this year looked like….

Slick, no?

Paratus reminder!

A friendly reminder, September 20 is Paratus…the holiday for survivalists. As always, the Paratus FAQ is available for your reading pleasure.

If you’re too lazy to bother, here’s the short version: Paratus is the holiday that is all about preparedness. You are expected to give/receive preparedness-related gifts, engage in preparedness-related activities (which are broadly defined enough to include ‘sitting around with your buddies, drinking beer, and watching The Walking Dead’), and hang out with like-minded individuals. In a perfect world it would be like a heavily-armed version of Mardi Gras.

However….I take it slightly more seriously. I’ll be handing out Paratus gifts to various folks, probably using the day as an excuse to do inventory, and hopefully receiving Paratus wishes and goodies from other survivalists.

As best I can tell, no one has marked down their merchandise and started playing Paratus carols yet, but it’s only a matter of time.

Paratus 2018 is here!

Happy Paratus, fellow survivalists/preppers/doomsters/bunkerdwellers/anti-government extremists/etc!

Go do something awesomely preparedness-related today. Go buy those mags you’ve been wanting, order up those solar panels, purchase that ICOM radio, get that Burt Gummer tattoo you’ve been wanting….today’s the day you don’t need to justify to anyone why you’re doing what you’re doing. (And that’s actually a trick statement….you should never feel the need to justify all that ammo and freeze drieds to anyone.)

My plans? Head to the range and put some ammo through my Low Impulse Control Mini-14GB to make sure the dumb thing works. After that it’s some time at the reloading bench. Then, a little bookkeeping to see if todays the day I pull the trigger (ahem) on the .338 Lapua that I’ve been lusting for these last couple years.

So…get out there! Get together with your fellow LMI and have a Lenny James marathon of ‘Jericho’ and ‘Walking Dead’, go to the range, order pizza and sit around planning your future off grid bugout locations. And let’s hear about what you did today in the name of preparedness.

But..whatever you do today, make it prep-y!

This post brought to you by The Committee To Advance The Paratus holiday.

ETA: A couple folks dropped some folding money in the tip jar as an act of Paratusian generosity. Much obliged!
