MH arrival

MH stuff has arrived. If youre local, c’mon down Sunday between noon and 5, or during the week during the same time.

Everything arrived EXCEPT they sent Jamaican Style Chicken w/ Rice insted of Mexican Style Chicken w/ Rice. Theyre sending the correct stuff but if you had the Mex rice in your order its gonna take a few more days. The Mex rice in the ProPak, however, did show up.

Kifaru, MH, Guliani

Yummy.

Got my Kifaru E&E bag today. I like it alot. Very heavy duty, modular in ways that leave all sorts of possibilities open and fairly well designed. What I really want is a Marauder backpack (in olive drab if anyone is in a generous mood). I like what Ive seen so far in terms of materials and, more importantly, design. Just wish the stuff wasnt so bloody expensive.

The girlfriend has opined (which, not coincidentally, rhymes with whined) that I already have a fairly decent collection of backpacks sitting around here. Like handguns, sex toys and kitchen knives there is no one pack that ‘does it all’. Thus, I will collect as many of the bloody things as I want.

Toady is Monday. MH supposedly shipped last Friday. I’m guessing it could be here Thursday, but more likely Friday. Believe me, you’ll hear about it here as soon as it gets here.

Looks like Rudy Guliani is throwing his hat in the ring. I’d expect he’d get the GOP nomination. However, although he’s a better choice than Clinton dont think for a minute that he’s a friend to your rights, guns or otherwise. Remember how they used to say Musolini made the trains run on time? Rudy reduced crime in NYC but read about the cost…the guy was more than happy to wink and nod when it came to cops playing it fast and loose. I’m telling you, kids…..buy ’em cheap and stack ’em deep.

Map gimmick,Kifaru, food saturation?,Fun with Mormons

This amuses me. Lets see if it works:

Ordered a goodie from Kifaru last week. Will give a review of it when it arrives. I wish I had the money for one of their Marauder packs but in the meantime there is no shortage of other goodies to play with. I ran itno a guy at Sporsmans Warehouse with one of the Marauder packs and he was nice enough to let me examine it. I was pretty impressed but at almost $300 it oughtta be a good pack for that kinda coin.

After running calculation on food storage in terms of FD & MRE’s & the various canned stuff & the dry goods in storage, etc, etc, etc. I may actually have hit the ‘Continue stockpiling but at a relaxed pace’ mark. If thats the case then I get to focus on a different aspect of being prepared. I do need to go down to the bunker and inventory things so I know exactly whats there in terms of food. Off the top of my head I know its pretty good but Id like some more precise numbers.

Remember a few months back I mentioned that the local ham radio group was approached by some Mormons wanting to get in on the bandwagon to set up their own radio network? Apparently its come to fruition complete with a class of about 50, 2-metter HT’s provided to each household by the church and base unit equipment for the local Bishops Storehouse. Tellin’ ya, these guys have their poop in a group. Almost enough to make me wanna convert just for the networking…but, then theyd expect me to tithe..and go to church…and believe…and eat Jell-o. Too bad there isnt some sort of ‘supporting membership’ or something. Or, at least, maybe an armband or something so after the apocalypse they’ll no I mean them no harm.

By the by, author Dean Ing wrote a series of books about the US after a nuclear war where the Mormons, by virture of their being prepared, were able to pick up the pieces and wind up turing the US into a theocratic Mormon state. (“Wild Country”, “Systemic Shock”, and “Single Combat”)

MH order made, SpecOps arrival

Okay, made the call. The ball is in play. Should be shipped Friday and arrive here within a week. After that its repackage and re-send.

As an aside, this purchase went much much smoother than the last one. Setting up a webpage and PayPal shopping cart made all the difference. In fact, it dropped thestress level so much that the next group buy might be a little different. I may be able to simply alter the webpage to offer cases as well as ‘singles’. Get one #10 can instead of having to order a case of six, etc, etc. We’ll see. That won’t be until late spring which is, to my way of thinking, end of May/June. Anyway, when stuff gets here I’ll let everyone know. Thaks for participating.

The replacement MOUT magazine carrier and harness arrived from SpecOps. Its neat. I need to take it to the range and wring it out, but cant argue with the customer service!

I read it when it first came out. Its definitely a button-pusher on racial issues but some of the things it foretold have come to pass. An interesting read if nothing else. Grab it before its free hosting goes down.

MH deadline approaches,TacPack,MilitaryMorons,Wilderness belt,gas piston ARs,Savage Scout

Not to come off as a spammer, but… this Wednesday is the last day to get in on the Mountain House pouch order. After that, the next opportunity will be a #10 can buy around June. Heres the original post with link if anyone is interested. Unlike the #10 cans, these pouches are practical for shorter term emergencies (although rated shelf life is 7+ years) and are great for camping, hunting, vehicle kits, three-day bags and other applications.

Found this little jewel while cruising the MilitaryMorons.com website. Theres a write-up about them here. They do mention that there is a quantity discount available so perhaps if theres enough interest a group purchase may be in order.

Clinton vs. Obama, Obama vs. Clinton, and who knows who else wants to get in on the action. Even if Im 110% wrong about the Democrats and their gun control agendas in the coming elections (what are the odds, hm?) do you really think you’ll regret having stocked up on mags and other related materials? Of course not. So, really, skip eating out this week and buy some magazines and ammo. If you’ve got a decent paying job and haven’t wiped out your Christmas bonus yet, pick up some AR lowers.

I’ve been wearing the Wilderness Instructors belt for a month now and must say that as a gunbelt I’m pleased with it. I’d replaced my DeSantis gunbelt after almost twenty years of daily use with another DeSantis, but I’d been wanting the Wilderness belt for a while now. I like the ‘infinite adjustment’ provide by the Velcro closure and, although this is totally irrelevant, it looks really good. The ability to use it to ‘tie in’ for certain applications (which I’ll probably never do) has some appeal but overall it’s a good piece of gear. I hope I get 20 years use out of it. By the by, it was a Chrismahanakwanzakah gift from the always thoughtful girlfriend.

The more I read about them the more I think I want to try on of the new gas-piston AR uppers. I’d love to get my hands on an HK416 upper but I would imagine those are big money when you can find one. Anyone have any experience with any of the other AR uppers out there?

Speaking of boomsticks, it appears Savage has reintroduced their Scout rifle, now with AccuTrigger. $432 dealer cost. I dunno, I’d be tempted but I think the Ruger version might be the better value in terms of workmanship and durability. I’ve heard that the Savage’s had issues with detachable magazines not fitting the guns properly. Usually the mag(s) that came with the gun were fine but if you ordered spares they often didn’t fit without some modification.
