Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
Speaking of glaciers…
The local forecast calls for lotsa snow and the usual winter warnings/advisories.
Am I nervous? Am I concerned? Am I worried????
:::laughs maniacally:::
Sust. ag. video link
I found this video through rightc0ast
Its a very interesting video. From rightc0ast‘s post:
This woman Patti (Garden Girl) has a fantastic video she put on GoogleVideo. Sustainable agriculture at it’s finest, and shes a complete natural in front of the camera. She hopes to pitch this to PBS orsomething, and it could totally work with this lady doing it. She seems to want to touch on everything from edible integrated landscapes to husbandry and forthrightly states she is going to be the poster person for sustainability to America. Whether she succeeds or not is another story, but after reading her posts she’s a gulcher with some strong will power. She just might.
MH pouch order
Before I forget, Mountain House is having a sale starting in February. I’ll be ordering cases of the pouch foods for myself and the local LMI. This includes the ProPak,2- and 4-serving pouches. Unlike the #10 can buy from last year this will be open to anyone reading this so feel free to bring your friends in. I’ll have a page up with shopping cart in a few weeks and ordering will be closed at the end of January. Because the pouch foods are extremely light, this is a good opportunity for those who felt the shipping on the #10 cans was prohibitive. Example: a case (6 pouches) of spaghetti w/ meat sauce in the ProPak is about 3#. Since I can fit about two or three cases worth of pouches into one Priority Mail Flat Rate Box that means, depending on what you want, you can get two or three cases (maybe more) sent anywhere in the US (inc. AK and HI) for $8.10. Pouches are rated for at least seven years. Good for backpacking, hiking, geocaches, bugout bags, food caches and storage at secondary locations. Menu selection is much broader with the pouches than it is with the cans, so if nothing in the cans appealed to you Im sure therell be something in the pouches you’ll want.
More details as January unfolds.

2007, The Box, Buying urge, Colorado snows
Well, the world didnt come to an end in 2006. Not for me, anyway.
Still theres no shortage of things on the ‘To Do’ list.
=====
Hey, remember The Box? The bunker that kitiara and I looked at back in 9/04? Heres the coordinates for Google Earth if you wanna see it: 46.081522°,-112.115643°
Wonder whats become of it……
=====
2007 needs to see me making moves towards neutralizing any antigun agenda a Democrat/Hillary victory in 2008 will cause. I still maintain that the Democrats will win in 2008 but only if they dont run Hillary. If they run her then I call it a Republican victory. Someone pointed out to me that for the price of the Steyr .50 that I want I could buy about 45 stripped AR lowers. Thats a hell of a perspective.
=====
Stranded motorists in Colorado are being searched for by plane. :::facepalm::: When the forecast calls for ‘glaciers, with possible ice age’ the smart money stays home. And, if for some reason, you feel you have to be out in that crap then at least have the brains to pack The Usual Winter Gear. Natural selection in action, folks. Snow..in Colorado..in the winter! Who would have thought!
More gifts
Heh..what did Captain Insano get me for Chrismahanakwanzakah?
Chrismahanakwanzakah loot!
Although I got a bunch of cool gifties, Im only going to cover the ones that fit the genre of this particular LJ. (Although I did also get a cool electric knife for my cooking escapades!)
First off, something Ive been wanting for a while now:

Wilderness Instructor Belt (5-Stitch)
I’ve been wanting one of these for the last year or so and now I gots one. w00t!
further gifting commences:
This thing screws onto the lid of my Nalgene bottle and allows one-handed operation. Can be locked open/closed. Loop for carabiner. Sweeeeeeeeet.
Also a pair of Carharts pants, which are always good lovin’!
Mmmmmmm…prezzies!
Grocery shopping sortie
Dammit, I should really wait till the end of the day and do all these posts….
Headed down to my local Albertson’s (“Oh god, its gonna be one of those posts again…”) ostensibly for a pound of ground beef and some Coke. Simple mission. Get in, get goods, get out.
And then….mission creep.
Ground beef..remaindered…$1.29/#. C’mon! A buck twentynine a pound! Youd have done the same thing as me…which was to aboutface and head back the the front of the store, grab a cart, and empty out the bin. Theyre in the freezer now, solidifying. Then its a visit to VacuumLand and then off to the cryo-nap. Total saved: $13.00. Thats like 10 pounds of meat for free!
Mmmmm…beef!
Infrastructure failure? Food shortages? I laugh!
Chrismahanukwanzakah gifts!
Ah! Gifting!
I wanted one and, thanks to the ‘punitive gifting’ policy of my brother, I now have one:
Stabby goodness!
